Hi I was wondering if it'd be good to buy the
Hydrofarm MGSYS Hydroponic Megagarden System I don't know if any of you have used it and if so is it good? it comes with removable grow trays that measures 23 inches by 23 inches square and holds fifteen 5-inch, plastic grow pots. I was also thinking about getting a Grow tent 2'x2'x4' because I only have 2.5x2x11' and the 2x2x4's were the only ones I could find that would fit. My question is should I buy the hydrofarm or build my own bubbleponic system? Also planning on buying a 400watt mh/hps light.

I'm a big fan of DIY. youll spend alot of money on a manufactured sys. For the space your working with a 3 bucket, 2 plant dwc setup would be a good system to build and grow in. you can build one for about 100

Thanks I'm just trying to plan some fun with my tax refund lol. I may be able to clear out my whole closet and if that's the case I will have PLENTY of space.

i am a medicle marijuana grower in colorado and i use 4 megagardens in a sog with 4 different strains i use 4 because 1 big system makes it hard to give each strain what it wants i love them i used bubble buckets before and they were ok but the megagarden actually comes with a big bag of hydroton mine came with gh flora nutes witch is what i use anyway and a ph tester that i dont use you should always use digital but ya you have to top them off every day or two when the plants get big i grow all 15 plants though great results and easy to use i have 10 mothers and i cut 6-8 inch clones root them and strait into flower under my 1000 watt cool tube and co2 15 plant will give me about a pound to a pound a half of the millenium strain and i can pull about a pound every 44-50 days from the top 44 strain growing platinum kush but they bush out so much i had to trim the shit out of them get about 12 oz to a pound from that strain long bloom though great system you need to make a cover for the tray were the flood is so dust doesnt blow in there other than that its awsome nice drain for water samples i went to home depot bought a 20 foot hose to fit the pump so i just attach the hose and turn on the pump to drain get 35% peroxide i use mad farmer and add 2.5-3 ml per gallon to make shure you dont get root rot or air stone wich i have seen first hand not work half as good as peroxide but i am shure if you buy the mega garden you will yield more in a sog than a couple of bubble buckets best of luck but i make my living growing cannabis so trust me

For someone like me (Newbie) entering into hydroponics and stepping away from soil, the Megagarden set up was easy and HIGHLY efficent. It comes all packaged and ready to go, trays,pump,pots,red clay pellet medium,timer and instructions. It is an ebb and flo set up so it is an easy way to introduce yourself into hydo without too much hassle. Just figure out your watering cycle and change your nutes and water every 7-10 days and keep it full and you will have great results. I caution you to stay away from using rockwool with the set up and have compatable plant types since their roots tend to mesh and you can't remove the pots after awhile. The pump is good for about a year if you keep it clean. I read using an air bubbler with this system is a bad idea, has something to do with the nutes. Still an easy choice for beginners like me and if you shop around you can find great deals. I found one at thefind.com for 110 bucks plus shipping. :clap:

I have a Megagarden I bought second hand and I'm using it for rooting seedlings and clones. It doesn't seem viable to me for full cycle usage.
With such a small reservoir, I'm finding keeping the feed water cool is proving tricky.

as a person who's spend $30 on a bubble bucket, about $100 on Emily's garden (the dwc version of megagarden), DON'T waste your money, I promise you, you could make one for cheaper, the Megagarden is about $170-200, you could buy a pump, tubing, reservoir, & Flood table for like under $60, if you have don't have a drill already, you can use the remaining money and get a drill, and other tools, trust me it's more fulfilling & cheaper when you built it with your hands!

Anybody else have any input on this ebb and flow system? I'd like to know cause it would fit perfectly in my 2x2 grow tent

I bought a root spa 5g dwc bucket system for $110 out the door. I bought some gh farm kits to make them waterfarms, so I'm all in for about $160. More than enough for me

Yeah but I'm looking for a sog compatible system and finding a built 24x24 inside dimension one is next to impossible until I found this one . I have dwc and aeroponics , I'd like to try an ebb n flow and see how they do :)

I have it myself and though I have harvested a few times I am having root issues. My yields are not what they should be and my most recent was with only 4 clones. As I am learning more about the system I am wondering if anyone has any tips on root competition? My roots are tangling together and causing larger issues, what can I do? I debated on lining my pots (which start in Rockwool) with some type of screen material to allow water through but locking the roots in? I’m at a lost, I am going to attempt auto flowers this time but with the cost involved I would like to have a successful crop... any tips on preventing root tangling please help!

So there are multiple plants wrapping the roots together, when I go to clean trays sometimes they are really stuck together
