Hydro v Soil

I have just started a new grow thought I'd try church only 2 germinated so I bought el nino 5 of thoes poped up. I put five in little pots and 2 el nino in my flood and drain system. The problem is that the ones in the hydro are growing like fat beasts and the five in pots are not doing so well even the churches which I expect to be bigger and germinated 3 days earlier are no where as big as the ones in the hydro. I am using canna aqua for hydro cf10 ph 5.7. In the pots I've used john inns 1 with perlite and vermiculite and water when needed with ph 5.5 and later will fertilise with canna terra. hps 600 w temp 27 degrees c. all in a grow tent. What I would like to know is whether this is normal for a soil grow compared to hydro or am I doing something stupidly wrong. I have never grown in soil before and would like to flower them all at the same time but at this rate I will have to continue vegging the little ones elsewhere. thanks for any advice

perfectly normal...plant grow faster in a hydro setup that a soil medium...when you want to flower just flip em all to 12/12 and raise the soil plants up to the light with some phone books or something. :blsmoke:

Thanks for the info. I think I will expand my hydro set up next grow seeing as they grow quicker and fatter in that. It justs maks me wonder why everyone isn't doing hydro!

you dont get the same flavor with hydro...it's a bit diminished...and a lot of people are intimidated by it. but easier to control that soil if you know how. :blsmoke:
