Hydro Tank Smell

My tank has a lid on it, I'm using Humboldt Nutrients master series without the Verde. The liquid is clear, but it smells like mildew, do I need to dump it out or is it ok? It's being constantly oxygenated but I don't know.

How light-proof is it? My only guess is you've got algae forming. I'm using the same nutes but I haven't noticed any odd smell coming from the water.

I would dump it and clean everything. Maybe try adding some peroxide to it see if it happens again.

well it is green i would say 10% light transfer max it just smells like b.o. and yeah its my water res.

Yeah, you want it light PROOF. Any light coming in invites algae to grow. Paint or tape the lid to keep the light out.

agreed, make sure that no light can get into your res.
