Just getting started, this my first attempt, so I'm just using some ragweed seeds with a setup similar to Mr. Green's YouTube...
I can't find the rockwool or hydrodon in my area, so I started with those little Jiffy pucks and moved them to some Miracle Grow Potting Mix in some 3" pots and am feeding them with MG fertilizer through a dripper system.
Am I wasting my time?
I haven't seen Mr. Green's video on YouTube in probably 2 years. But from what I can remember he had a Hydroponic set up.
Mr. Green's vegg room had 40 watt fluoro's and a dripper system, and his plants were being grown in 4 inch rockwool cubes and clay pellets.
Mr. Green's flowering room had a 400 watt HPS and an Ebb-n-flow system, and his plants were being grown in a planter tray filled with clay pellets.
Plus he was also using CO2.
From what I can remember Mr. Green had an Ok' system, it looked really primitive.
I would've done things differently than what he did. But I can see why he made the video. I think he did it to show people how simple and cheap you can make a basic hydroponic set up.
Personally I think a dripper system works inefficiently. A dripper system works well for seedlings and clones. But he had his set up for his mothers too. Plus those drippers tend to bind up or get clogged from time to time.
I would of made both the vegg and flower ebb-n-flow. then set up a seperate cloning table.
I would'nt of used those shitty fluoro's either, your plants end up getting stretched out and lanky. Plus, if he would of used a Metal Halide set up or even some strong T5's he wouldn't of had to vegg his plants out for 8 weeks. He should of had those plants in flowering stage at about 4 weeks.
You see the great thing about growing hydroponically, you can shave off at least 2-4 weeks in vegging, if you have the right light and ventilation set up.
Plus I would of set up the CO2 to be in both the flowering and vegg room.
Also I remember he only got a little over a quarter of a pound out of 4 plants. He should of gotten at least a half pound out of those plants.
From what I've read of your description of your growing area, it doesn't sound anything like Mr. Green's set up.
