What I have found is when you move a plant, turn the lights on, start a fan, do anything that disturbs it and it is going to give off more odor.
Sure, one way is to filter your exhaust. Another is to spray, Yet another is to generate ozone, Or yes you can get ozone in a can like oxium and spray it. Smells like a hospital though. People pay good money for filters when there are ways around that. I use a 1/2" carbon pre filter for an air filter. Cost me $10 and I have enough to make three 8x8 sheets. I change them out once a month. Works for me in a 2x4 foot growing area.
I think the best way to handle it is to get a strain that don't smell like weed. Hell with the genetics available today you can get weed that smells like berries, cherries, lemons all kinds of things. Its just thinking outside of the grow box.
Funny thing, I have taken clones at a friends house, put them in a plastic bag with a little water, and while I drove the hour and a half home I SMOKED MY WINSTONS!! along with a doobie. Once I got home I tossed the bag in the fridge and went to bed. The next day I cut off about another 1/4 inch, dipped them in the gel and put them in rapid rooters. I had little plants in a week. So if your hubby doesn't want to wait until there rooted he could try that

By cooling your res the nutrient solution will cool your plants as long as the plant can breathe so get some air pumping through there, Run your lights at night to drop 10° or so, and cool down that res. Plants wont stink as much during the day cause they will be sleeping. getting an air cooled hood and placing the ballast outside the tent were not bad Ideas either.

It sounds like the clones would hold up ok in a zippie and a cooler. Worth a try....
