Humidity

I would like to flip my girls but this Michigan humidity is a little crazy I’m growing in a room but only using 4x4 of space it’s been over two months of veg they’re ready. Thing is I don’t a dehumidifier as of yet my temps right now is 85 and humidity 63 I know that’s too high for flower, and the humidity outside is even higher so question is how do I get my humidity down without dehumidifier until maybe a when I can by one

Do you have an air conditioning unit you could use? While 63 is a tad bit high, I don't think it's so far out of range that it'll give you problems. But anyways, your best bet is to keep as much air flowing around and underneath the canopy as possible. In a 4x4, 2 oscilating 15-20inch fans would do perfectly and will help move and get air flow through and between the leaves. But you could get by with 1 oscilating fan if need be. Not only will some fans blowing air above help, and preferably a fan blowing air around below the canopy, but also using powerful inline fans for air extraction will also help reduce humidity in your tent. The less the air stands still in your tent, the lower the RH will generally be. And last of all, an air conditioning unit will reduce humidity quite a bit while keeping things cool as well.

What Logan says plus run lights at night to help. It’s usually cheaper rates then too.

What strain is it? Some of my Sativa dominant strains tolerate high humidity and I can run them in the summer where RH can get above 65%. A dense Indica is just going to mold IMHO. Also how many weeks is the strain?
The last 3 to 4 weeks is the major concern. If it's a 10 week strain and you flip first or second week of august you will finish in mid october. Temps & RH "should" be down by then.

If you're in flower and running lights on from 7 am to 7 pm, how would you reverse the schedule to run lights at night? I'm assuming it's done by extending the dark time, not the lights on time. Is it best to leave the lights off for 24 hours then start the new schedule? Or, do it gradually maybe 3 hours at a time (15 hour dark periods 4 times)?

It’s two monster cookie and one wedding cake I believe they’re 50/50 hybrids this my second run with the monster cookie took 11 weeks to finish my first with the wedding cake though but the m.c was very dense so should I just make Mother’s from them was my second question the are pretty big already the canopy is pretty much hanging over the pots they’ve been topped twice and doing lst

that also a good question :wall:

its more humid at night, lol, so why run at night? it makes no dam difference, other then power is a tad cheaper.
As long as your not letting the plant cool to fast, even at 65% RH, u shouldnt see mold. keep temps at 80F if you cant get the RH out, and the fan constant,

Correct. An easy, low stress way to go about that is to, each day, allow the dark period to be extended by 1 or 2 hours and as you said, do NOT extend the light cycle. You could also do 3hrs at a time like you're saying and that should work just fine. You could allow the light to stay out for 24hrs, and I don't think it would cause any harm, but it would be more shock for your plants as opposed to gradually doing so. But if you're in a position where, maybe you have a vacation coming up or new job starting where you simply cannot wait the 4-7 days to correct the lighting cycle, then go for the 24hrs of dark. :)

This is more because of the temperatures rather than humidity, InTheValley. It makes a very large difference for people in areas like where I am, where day time temps are above 90F and nighttime temps below 70F. If I ran my lights during the daytime, my temps would regularly exceed 80F and being in hydroponics, I cannot afford for my water temps to rise too high. These types of situations offer the largest benefits from running at night time. Using a 12,000 BTU window AC unit that's air is directly funneled into my intake, I can still barely keep temps below 80F in mid-day.

no doubt man, i see what your saying, i read it wrong. only solution is running higher temp strains i guess. just dont shock the grow area with cold blasts of air, you should be ok.

Humidity is running 55-62% in bottom of grow tent. Top of canopy running 48-52% am I in trouble? Bottom of plants are defo completely from base up to about 10” to a foot. Plants are 4 ft tall. About 2 1/2 ft to 3ft has bud. I have a exhaust fan 4 6” fans blowing n silica in bottom of tent. Temps run 82-86 degrees. Lights are at max height 14” above. Will the bottom level 57-63% hurt my plants when at top of canapé is 47-52 %? Thanks sorry for long post going into week 7 of 9

I flower at 55 to 60% and i have never had mold issues. Mainly its because i do most everything listed above.. lol. Lots of moving air, lights on at night etc.. i do have a nice sized dehumidifier just in case it gets out of control, but i havent even had to use my last two runs.

Also, if you've never looked into VPD i recommend you do so. It will give you some insight into how to keep your space in the sweet spot.
