Humidity Question

I cut down one of my girls, and trimmed, put in qt. jars. I put a hygrometer in one of the jars. It reads 40% humidity, but the buds feel bone dry. Should I set them out to dry more? I was reading that about 62% is what I'm shooting for, so how is this going to happen?

My buddy just speed dried this bud and gave me 4g to test out. It’s crumbling like crazy. About to light the first bowl. I typically don’t like powder bud but this looks nice. E573B0D2-2705-4F71-88EA-71640C9125BB.jpeg

Looks and smells strong but it’s surprisingly smooth and honestly, pretty weak! Definitely going to tell him to dry slower and cure properly next time. It has great bag appeal though. Moral of the story? Always dry and cure properly.

You have another plant growing? Take a med size leaf and put it in each jar on top that is about 3/4 full. Seal back up tight wait a day and then do it again, the next day empty all jars into a large bowl and then put it back into jars with a leaf on top again. I say to do this three times cuz it sounds really dry but you may have to do it more times than three maybe just twice idk. It should put you back to a moisture level you would like better than what you have. The downside to this is it will dry out faster when you just have it in a plastic baggy than if you had dried it properly to begin with but it will put some moisture back in to make it a better smoke and not all dry and dusty.

even a damp piece of paper towel for a few hours can work miracles. Add a boveda 62 pack and keep it from getting too moist or drying out again.

If you have a spray bottle, you can spritz the side of the jar or the lid just 1 time. Check it the next day to see what the rh is. If you get it a little too moist, just burp the jars or lay them out on the floor if it's wet. Smoke won't be exactly the same quality compared to properly dried and timely cured, but better than over-dried buds imo
