ok my plant is 3 and a half months old and massive (outdoor).....but no signs of pistils by the nodes etc , or those balls which are on male plants........its looking nice and healthy but jeeeeezuz its taking forever to hit the flowering stage....will post pics up when i get the chance.....1st grow btw....oh and its actually 2 plants in a huge pot and theyre doing fine ( couldnt seperate roots ) so waiting till i can determine gender before i cut one of em down....is there an outdoor method of force flowering? without freaking the fuck outa the plants?

You don't have the plant near a big yard light or some other large light source that is on a lot during darkness do you? MJ needs at least 11 hours of continual darkness (and 12 is usually considered the safe standard) to build up the proper amount of flowering hormone florigen.

Had a roomate that used to bring a plant inside at night and put it in our storage room that had a light on all the time because the pull cord on the light was busted. It didn't flower until we solved that little piece of the puzzle and unscrewed the bulb.....and to think people figure I wasted my seven years in college :-)

You can force flowering by shortening the days. People outdoors facilitate this by tarping the plant before the sun sets. and then just removing it. THere has to be another source of light somewhere.

whatsup everyone :) im in South Africa so freezing isnt gonna happen here hey.....bloody hot here at the moment.. summer aswell so the sun is up at like 5:30/6:00 and sets around 7....i researched and got the shortening of the hours of light, but wasnt sure how i should do it cos majority of the referrals were to indoor growing as well as the fact of not being able to move this mother of a pot too easily haha.....but thanks legallyflying will definitely try the tarp method and if it doesnt help ( i think itll be perfect) ill ask my dad to just help me move it into the garage to shorten the light cycle cos my garage is pitch black... and "DUNIT" yeah im gonna find a darker area for it somewhere cos the light inside the kitchen is fucking with it a bit i think....shot guys for all the help :) still gotta upload those pics tho :) will try do it tomorrow......peace :)

Didn't figure for you being in the southern hemisphere but that makes sense :-)

The tarp method will work fine, just make sure it's a tarp that isn't light permeable. You need one that will blackout the plant.

Yeah man the Ganj vibe here is pumping....referred a few okes to RIU......check out belowthelion.co.za its a whole website (Cape Town based) directed towards the legalization of MJ etc etc bla bla, and there some sic articles in there aswell....
Am going through with the tarp method :) shot :) and yeah i agree with accordfamily.....getting a good sturdy job here isnt hard......but its all about who you know and what connections you have and how you come across to the person....but dude come down at some stage for a tester run and check out the scene.....it also depends on what field youre thinking of going into down here...oh nd shot for the lucky luck luck jfa916....hope it turns out the way im planning :D

beautiful sativas! first pic group, #2 ... looks like it may be a male. at the branch internodes, keep an eye out for pre-flower hairs or balls. you can sometimes get a good idea of the sex after week 5 veg, but not always.

hope the light tarp is working well. did you do a frame for it, or just tack the tarp against the house? 100% darkness is key. light leaks or interuptions of the 12hour darkness period can cause other problems (like hermaphites), so be vigilant. your's should finish @ when we are ready to plant here ;) carefull too, sativas outside can stretch like hell, if worried about height, either top her or train her to grow more horizontally.

mollasses ... GREAT stuff and a secret ingredient for many gardeners ..... contains most of what the plant will need to feed - NPK + trace elements + sugars. also the main ingredient in SEVERAL major fertilizer lines. stick with the dark blackstrap stuff. do some google searching, look around and consider just continuing organic ..... mollasses + maybe some bat guano for flowering nute boost.

*** hahah ... just saw this post on it too .... karmic .... https://www.rollitup.org/organics/381152-good-read-molasses.html

thank you and thanks so much for your reply....ended up just moving it into the laundry instead of the tarp method (the wooden door behind the plant is the laundry...nice and close :) )...i also have a sneaky feeling that its a male....however ill just wait it out cos ive gotten excited so many times thinking that the tiny tiny sprouts of new leaves are the flowers.....BUT ALASSS!!! just more leaf growth haha... will keep up the use of mollasses...as well as this stuff i bought recently called Nitrosol. thanks so much for ur advice, its greatly appreciated. Will keep the thread updated with pics....cheers
