ok so ive been growing just fine in my 4.5 by 5 foot by 8 foot closet. with no vent at all with 3 2 light t12 fixtures and 8 cfls. theres about a 1 inch crack between bottom of the door. i just got paid and i want to upgrade to a hps. i have enough for up to probly a 400 watt. but i think the heat will be a super big problem. will i be ok using a 150 watt sun system? or will that still be to much heat? i grow in dwc buckets and i have a 1 foot fan facing at my plants and a 9000 btu standing air conditioner on low blowing up at the lights. i have it on low cause it gets kinda cool in there on high. also i dont have it on ac mode cause idk if the exaust will hurt my plants so i just have it on fan mode. i know theres alot of questions i have im alittle faded kinda goin on but any help would be great.

only way to really know is to try it out and see for yourself.. Worst case scenario: It gets too hot and you need to spend 100 bux on a fan to pull the hot air from some type of air cooled hood and out of your grow space.

Unless someones has the exact grow space as you or the exact climate conditions no one will really know. You dont need to cut holes if you are in a closet. Simply take off the closet door and hang some reflective film like Panda Film, think outside the box my dude.

yahh i would but the closet is me and my moms living room closet we both have are cards we cant have a door off and an obvious grow room in the corner of our living room. you can see the door when we open the front door for somebody

i remember back when i had to rent. pain in the ass. If you are on the first floor you can cut into the floor. Under the carpet and have your vent go under the house. Just make sure you put a filter on it. Just put the carpet back over the hole when you move out along with something hard to act as a temporary sub floor.

And why cant you cut the walls? how are your dry wall skills? if youre good you can do anything you want and no one will ever know. We once built a wall almost two feet inside of another wall in a small rental house so we could vent our air in there. The landlord never noticed the difference as long as lived there. Im sure he noticed after the fact but by then it was probably too late.

Thats what I'm saying you can buy a drywall repair patch kit at home depot, lowes, wal mart etc.. Its costs a whopping $10.00-$20.00

Another approach....

Buy the appropriate sized "cheapie" door for your closet.
Cut / drill required holes for adequate ventilation.
Mask the holes by covering with a mirror / picture that has a spacer underneath of it so the air can pass out of the closet and around the mirror/picture.

This will not be noticeable from a distance, but if somebody were to get up close and start poking their nose around, the subterfuge won't last.

When you move, simply put the old door back on.

Good luck regardless.

I have actually built false walls in closets in rental apts also. i just removed them and patched the holes when i left and got my whole deposit back =). Drywall is very easy to fix back so that unless they tear it out there is no way to tell it has been fixed.

Plywood painted white with some hinges, looks like a door from far away..
