HPS or MH???

I'm pretty new to growing, this will be my 3rd grow using DWC. The first couple times I was using someone else's light a dual HPS/MH 600w light. Now I have my own light which is just a 400w HPS (all I could afford) Is it okay if I use this light for veg and flower?? I am not trying to grow some amazing stuff or a huge quantity or make a bunch of money, I'm doing it to have some smoke and have fun growing and for the learning experience (growing 6 plants) I have read in "the closet cultivator" that HPS can be used for both but I keep seeing everyone on this forum using all these different combos of light, so I was just wondering if I'll still get some decent growth and buds with my light. Thanks!! =)

If that is all you have, then you'll be fine.
Just expect them to stretch more and therefore to possibly be more lanky.
But you'll still end up with some dank ass buds !!!

Thanks!! I wasn't too worried, but after reading around I saw all these crazy light combos and got worried! We were going to try to keep them pretty small, maybe a foot and a half tall (growing in a 2x4x6 tent in our bedroom so not much room!) Is it possible to keep them that small? I have the light around 2 feet above at the moment (had some issues was worrying about shocking the hell out of them) but I plan on moving the light lower in a couple days after I let them chill out for a few. My tent is only 5ft tall, and you see my yields in my sig ! lol
I don't let them get taller than 10 inches before I start bloom.
My max plant height is 30 inches, so if I have a 3x stretcher I'm safe.
If it's a Indica dominate plant, then you can let it get about 15 inches tall before starting bloom.

Very nice! I am not totally sure if my plants are indica or sativa lol we have 3 ak47 clones and 3 og kush clones that we got from a friend. Our goal is to keep them small and keep the smell down, we've only had them a week and they are soooo stinky already! How do I figure out about them being indica or sativa? I've done some reading and the difference between the two (by sight) are one having small fat leaves and grows short and the other has long skinny leaves and grows tall right?

AK is a good hybrid of both, but grows and finishes quick like an Indica.
You OG's are most def Indica's and will have to veg longer to get the same yield the AK will give you.
But it will make up for it the potency department !! lol
Grow all 6 until the tallest GIRL is about 12 inches tall and then start 12/12 light cycle for bloom.
You should look into some sort of training because those 2 different strains will end up at different heights, causing uneven light penetration which will affect your yield.
