MH for veg … HPS for flower. Look for one that will use both bulbs or one that will use a bulb with use a bulb with both a MH and a HPS filament in it so you only need one light.

Just get a switchable ballast, u can have the best of both worlds, MH for veg & HPS for bloom!
Now u just have to work out the amount of watts your system will be, to easy!!bongsmilie

I MYSELF USE A SUNBLAZE T5 HIGH OUTPUT FOR FOR VEG...NO HEAT AND 50,000 LUMES...REAlly like how plants respond...use 600 watt air cooles hps for flower...would get a hps if had to choose and then u could squeek by with cheap flors for veg

all of the above,if you only afford one get the hps,its most important to have proper lighting during the flower period

MH has a blue spectrum of light suited for vegetative growth producing stronger branches and internodes.
HPS has a red spectrum & is suited to the flowering stage as it stimulates flower production at bud sites.bongsmilie
