hps light question

Yo what's up guys so I was going to do an indoor grow but the way I setup my lights, I just wasn't feeling it so I decide to just wait an do outdoors, but I'm not really satisfied with them so I'm back to thinking of indoor options, now I'm not sure if I'm going to do it but heres what I would do

I would get a 150 watt hps for flowering and 200 watts of CFLs for veg. Now I was wondering first would 3-4oz off a plant be possible? I would do one plant at a time and I would veg 6-8 weeks topping, super cropping all that good shit. Also I could probably get the plant at the most 4.5 feet. Also I was thinking of doing if not all indica strains but would a sativa be worth growing?

Not sure of your conditions but if you're not happy with your outdoor results, I'm sure you won't be happy with the 150W results. You can't beat sun, in the light department.

You might have to access your growing method, or just be patient with what's happening.

Ya and you want more watts in flower then you do veg, you would be taking the plants a step backwards

3-4 oz. off a single plant is pretty damn hard indoors under absolutely perfect conditions. If you want yield, buy some big bud or something, but you'll sacrifice in quality. personally, I wouldn't venture under 400 watts, look on Amazon. You can get them very cheap.

I've heard good things gs about the White Widow x Big Bud, may want to look into those, fairly cheap as well!

I pull 3-4 zips all day long off my plants so I guess it's not that hard :D

Yep under a 600, and the strains doesn't really matter. I can get 3-4 of pretty much every strain I grow.

I pull over 4 oz on a 600 easy depending on my veg time, but i would not be flowering with a 150 watt and expecting to get 4 oz even topped or super cropped. I mean anything is possible but i wouldnt count on it.

The most I've pulled is 7, that was in a greenhouse though. This is my first year moving everything inside so im still trying to figure it all out. What strains have you pulled 4 oz. off of twisted j? And how many plants do you have under it? I just bought a 600 w mh/hps. Do you start your 600w mh immediately? As soon as you put your germen seeds in soil?

Well i had 4 plants under the 600 at that time. Strains were : White widow Auto : Jack diesel : Vintage 2006 : Sour apple, I got about 3z on the WW but i think it was because it was a auto.
I usualy veg my plants under t5's untill i can pull about 4 clones off the bottoms of the plants, then after that i out them under the 600. I found that putting them right under that much light that early fries them.
So I have chopped 6 plants since using this 600w set up and 5 out of the 6 produced about 4oz if not more.

200 watts of cfls only let off 14000 lumens while the 150w hps let's off 16000 so I was thinking that there would be no problem. What if I did autoflowers. How many would I be able to do at once and how much do you guys think I could expect off them

Alright I'm now looking into a 250 watt hps to run 2 plants. Now im hearing they can let off quite a bit of heat so I'm wondering if this would work. Alright my room is 2 feet in length, 5 feet wide and 5 or 5 1/2 feet in height, I have a 4 inch 190cfm inline fan with a carbon filter that would be my exhaust. I would have a 12 inch oscillating fan moving air inside and looking at buying a 4 inch duct fan for intake. Also the closet has no door so I would use like a tarp as a door and it would be in my basement and it stays cold like 60 it may be colder it cement so it stays cold through the summer and winter. Would this be good enough to keep things cool

Temp wise, you'll be fine with the 250. I use a 400 hps in a 4x2 tent and keep the closet door open. The temp ranges from 79 to 88 and the outside (outside the home) temps are around 70-95 right now. I also have the oscillating fan and carbon filter so it sounds very similar, except you have the advantage of those 60 degree temps down there. If I were you I'd use a 600 hps for flower.

Yeah go 600, you can get a decent air cooled hood 600w hps /mh on amazon for 200 bucks. I just got the 6" hydrofarm 400cfm fan and I'm seriously amazed at how much air it pushes. Even with 10 ft. of duct work and a 90 degree bend it sucked a large McDonald's cup through it in an instant, didn't even mean to, about messed up my fan.

Yeah for the price of a 250 you might as well start looking at 400 possibly 600 for that space. I use a 400 in a 2x4x8 closet and it works pretty well, use a 4" inline 160 cfm ducted out of grow area....If you are going to jump up I recommend adjustable ballast just in case heat is an issue. I run my carbon filter ducted to hood ducted to fan pulling smell and hot air out and duct to attic. Also cool tube would work. Being that your only 2 feet wide like me it is going to limit amount of plants you can fit....400 covering a 3'x3' area and a 600 4'x4' area (optimal). You could get 3 nice bushes in there and veg longer or you could pack it in and veg shorter and have quicker turnaround. All how you want to grow and works best for your space.

Agreed bro a nice cooled hood is the best investment you can make in a small space. Don't go for less than a 400 but with a cooled hood go for a 600 :) You will NOT regret it.

Anyhow to answer another question, area your size I'd recommend doing it Sea Of Green style, 22 cm clones put straight into flower no veg time, I'd say you can get about 18 plants in there in 20cm pots, between 20 and 28 grams per plant is from 360 to 504 grams (12.5-17.7 ounces).

You'll have to find yourself a nice SHORT fat Indica and get the right pheno too to get yields like that, but trust me with enough light and low enough temps it is done every day...

You can get giant yields SOG style with Mr Nice's Critical Mass, Greenhouse Seeds' Skunk #11, Nirvana's AK48, etc

Check out this thread for a good indication of what to do SOG style...

Yo guys I was looking at the 400 watt light kits and they are the same price as the 250 watt so I'm just thinking of getting the 400 watt but I have a question, it says that the its a dimmable ballast saying it can do 50% 75% or 100%, so if you put it at 50% or 75% is the light still using 400 or does it end up using 200 watts for 50% and 300 watts for 75%?
