HPS: Horizontal or Vertical orientation? Discuss.

So I'm wondering how I should orient the bulb. I want to dangle the socket so I can adjust the height. Of course that would require me to have a vertical orientation.
I have mylar all around my box.

What do you think?

use 150 econ light hang by a fatty chord, and its good

just on the hps the top of the bulb has a lot of glass or shit so it blocks light directly below when u hang it vertically

I think you'd be better off with the HPS light oriented horizontally, with supplemental fluorescent tubes mounted vertically to help out the lower branches.

Yea I think I might add 2 CFLs to help out the bottom leaves. I think the fact that all my walls are lined with mylar is also going to help that as well. Otherwise I'm just going to have my HPS as low as I can get it.

yep horizontal with a hood, would also be good

but for me right now hanging vertically i can deffinately tell the growth on one side of the plant haha

but line it with fluroecents too to get the extra for undergrowth^ x2

I don't think people with grow cabinets or generally have a confined volume actually need a hood. If you just properly line the grow cabinet in mylar that is 99%+ reflective, most of the light will only bounce once, maybe two times before reaching a plant or bucket surface. Like I bet the difference in light use efficiency is pretty close with mylar or a hood.
