Nah mate you want to change it every grow. Your bulb will have dropped some of its output by the time you finish a grow. You want to give your plants optimum lighting so change it every grow.

You're good for about a year. At which point HPS is around 80% lumen output. MH, you'd be down to about 70%. MV, even less(only bulb here with both *usable life*, and rated life expectancy before failure).

After 1 grow(under 6 months) it's likely still pushing out over 90% of the 'brand new'/peak lumens. No reason to change it so often.

Like i said if you want optimum conditions and optimum results change it every grow. After 1 grow its gonna be less effective. 90 percent efficient is not what i looking for. What is the light gonna be like after your second grow. We are taking over from mother nature when we grow weed, so surely it is our job to provide the best conditions possible? The suns efficiency dont drop with each grow, so why should the lighting we use be any different? Second hand bulbs anyone? Only used for one grow!

It's also going to be less effective immediately upon igniting it for the first time, and every time thereafter. Where's the air-wank emoticon?

personaly i did 5 exellent grows on a 400w multi spectrum hps and then i changed bulbs.
If you want to or are willing to spend on another bulb buy yourself a metal halide bulb for veg and alternate so you only get half the wear on both!

For optimum lighting it makes sense to change every grow. If money is an issue fair enough. But i want the best for my plants and you would think everyone else would want the same. Aint gonna argue wi ya mate, thats your opinion. Wanker? If the cap fits mate.

I'm surprised you're not an LED grower, as they have, by far, the best lumen maintenance of any bulb.

This guy must own stock in some bulb manufacturer or something.

no mate no stocks in any lighting company just want the best for my plants. I wish i did have stocks the amount of bulbs i go through. What is the point in slagging somebody off when it is totally unfounded? Opinions are opinions. And no mate i am an incredibly successful grower thank you very much. Using hps not leds.

You wont see any of the grow operations in amsterdam using bulbs for more than one grow. Contact them and see why. Now where is that Wanker emoticon?

if they tell you so then go with it, but i dont recomend doing that .i say change it every 6-8 months so that you can get a couple grows out of it . and thats if you 18/6 or 24/0 them other wise you can stretch a year out of them . and of course the shop is going to tell you that so you can keep on spending because they are expensive

Now lets make it clear, i have no interests in any bulb company. I am not loaded, i wish i was, i just like to provide the best of the best for my plants. I am not a member on here to take abuse from self righteous idiots who for some reason think they know everything.
