HPS for germinating/sprouting/vegging?

I am on a tight budget but was wanting to buy a hps light. However i do not want to buy a different light for each stage. Would it work ok if i just used an hps light throughout the entire grow? I know it doesnt put out the best color spectrum for vegging and is best for flowering.

you can certainly use an hps for vegging

and no light for germinating. seeds hatch open best in a moist, dark and warm environment. also the light from an hps would hurt the raproot for sure

So i germinate then put into soil and put it on a 18/6 light cycle?

sure no prob,get a hps kit, you can always get a cmh for veg they work on the same running gear[provided its mag coil not dig]

i had the same quesion a while ago, this is my first grow but im using a hps for mine at mo and they are in veg stage and they doing very well so id say no probs, do it and i hope they do well for u.
