You will probably get loads of differing answers - some from people who have never even done a grow of any kind.

i personally use a 600w hps with SUNMASTER DUAL SPECTRUM LAMP.

has good amounts of blue and red spec and can be used for both veg and flower.

Google has your answer, Spanishfly.

To answer your question, I have no idea. I'm using a hand-me-down 1000w LU1000 that works like a charm. I hear they're of the pricier variation though, so I'd expect it to work well...

Yes.. The reason im not going for this light, is I'd rather use a seperate light for veg

Another reason being.. that is its using some of its power for more blue spectrum in theory wouldnt that mean your getting less power out of red spectrum equailing for less light for bud cycle?

Or is it providing additional lumens in blue, on top of what it offers in red?

And what is a PAR? Nobody has yet defined this (presumably an) anagram?
PAR is a non-SI measurement of light. It measures the amount of light usable by plants.

Ralphie to answer your question you need to give us more info. Are you trying to grow the whole cycle under HPS or just flowering under HPS. If you are only using the HPS for flower:
Agrosun Red 600w HPS Bulb
http://www.hydroasis.com/hy/productdetail.aspx?id=836&product=agrosun-red-600-watt-hps-bulb
(don't buy it there... they're expensive. if you look around they're as cheap as 75 bucks, maybe cheaper.)
and this MH to veg
SunMaster 400w MH Cool Deluxe Bulb
http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=50282

If you are trying to use one light for the whole grow cycle, they make HPS/MH dual bulbs. I've never seen one in person, only on the internet (http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=53220). But in principal these would probably be best, considering plants need different light at different stages. But if at all possible and affordable for you, you should have different lights for veg and and flower.

roughly how many plants could i grow healthy with 225W High pressure sodium. I currently have 3 and they are growing so strong and healthy, i want to know how many plants i could grow without going overboard......i was thinking maybe 10?

No Offence mate but you should start your own thread or do a little research, its more a point of the square footprint of the light. If you have 3 plants now you could grow 15 smaller plants and lollypop them all etc under a SCROG for example.

The lumens is the same as it would always be.

I originally bought this lamp due to using it for both Veg and Flower in the same closet doing a single grow at a time. After my latest grow has finished i may buy a specific red for flowering once i have my mother/clone/Veg/Flower area setup so that i can run a test as to whether the same strain with the same nutes with a different lamp ie the Dual Spec vs the Red spec to see any differences on either lamp.
Like i said i was just stated the bulb which i personally use and find it very effective.
