HPS and Heat question.

Bear with me here guys...

I'm planing on building myself a grow box this weekend for my transplanting. My plants are going to be 3 weeks old. I have 7 plants now. Assuming that at least 3 or hopefully 4 will survive to flowering I was going to build a box aproximatly 5'Hx4'Wx2'L. I was planing on puting a inline duct fan mod onto the carbon filter I already made in excitement. The fans I'm looking at are 80 CFM which is plenty for that small of a space, unless I'm mistaken. Was maybe thinking of turning it down with supplying less votage just to do away with the over kill.
Keeping that in mind. I was planing on just making a wooden frame and using black plastic for the ouside and staple it to the frame. Making a mount for the air freshener and a system to suspend light's with chain and such. And probably use some sort of aluminum sheeting for the inside walls.

Here is the real question...

Can I put a 400w HPS light in here and have that Max 80CFM fan be enough to keep my plants at a decent temperature. I will have to hook up the fan to a thermstat obviously but would this be doable. I don't know how hot those lights get. Right now they are under plenty of Compact floro lights. But I wana get my babies a HPS.

Thanks guys. Any ideas on the box would be awesome too.

120 CFM or above would be better. I remember reading something about how you wanna clear all the air in the room at least three times a minute.

Sounds good on paper, but youll have to try it out, i would suggest a cool tube, there are good DIY methods for this and i myself will hopefully contruct my hps into a cool tube, it allows you to get much closer.

That fan will work fine to start, although you will want to run it 24/7. If you install an HPS, you'll have to aircool it with another blower.

Use black/white plastic, called panda plastic for some reason, and your inside white walls are good to go.

Im thinking of running modifying the filter in a camber with input that runs right to the HPS shield. I might just get a 250 and keep the 55w Full Spectrum CFLS I got in there too. I think that will be plenty light for 3 - 5 plants. At least Im hoping. Going to wallies world tomorrow to look at cheap premade closets. Read that somewhere, seems like a good idea for a cheap easy to assemble grow box.

Thanks...

I've been putting though into making one myself. You can buy one for like $100 and it has the proper reflection surface on the top of the tube. But making one seems a lot cheaper and not to tough.
Do you have any links for the DIY tubes???
