Another vote for Hortilux!

I'm still using a 400W, 15 yo EYE conversion bulb that gives me MH light off an HPS ballast. Plants veg just fine off it and even at it's advanced age likely gives me as good a spectrum as the new el-cheapo $30 PlantMax bulb I recently bought to use in my 400w MH ballast. My old magnetic ballasts are at least 25 years old and still work fine as well.

What's a good brand 600 hps bulb,good quality
I've personally started out with a 'low name' bulb called Emperor. It gives off a really red spectrum compared to Ushio and Hortilux and to be honest, I frigging loved it. I sought out to buy a 600HPS USHIO over Hortilux. Rocked the Emperor for 2 years, before I went out to buy the USHIO. 3 years later, never once did I think to go get a new bulb. (Saved up that cash to go buy material to upgrade the room)- light proofing, venting, new fans, gadgets etc..
We've been told to change out bulbs once a year, and some growers even change bulbs after every grow. I'm NOT about that life only because I'm cheap, not because I don't believe in it.

Anyways, USHIO is a great bulb for HPS in the sense that it'll hold that spectrum and lumens for longer before it starts to fade as compared to Hortilux and Emperor bulbs. *More red than hortilux i found..

Hortilux has a 'better' spectrum in terms of quality lighting and Lumen. It visually looks like it gives off a blue spectrum if you compare it to USHIO and Emperor, making it a 'fuller spectrum'. This does not in anyway make this a blue/cool light bulb. Still red spectrum.

I picked USHIO because I knew I wasn't going to replace it for a long time.. BUt HORTILUX is the Best all-round bulb if you're willing to get a new one every year. Stick with this bad boy.

Neither bulbs have ever burnt out on me yet..

Have any,of you guys use genisis ,hps 600 ,are as good as they say
I haven't used them personally. But a friend that works at a grow store told me straight up ALL bulbs are great when you first pop them. If they're not great when you first plug them in, you wouldn't have bought it. Genesis is one of those bulbs you replace more frequent at a cheaper cost by the looks of their commercial. So great quality, it just diminishes quicker?
Why don't you want to stick with Hortilux? I've saving up for a 600 Blue myself right now..

If you have a htg store around you, their bulbs works fine. Last about 9 months before they start loosing their brightness. I've only had one burn out but they have a 1 yr warrantee so no biggie.

If money is an issue just buy the standard hps bulb. The owner of a hydro shop I knew used to tell me the same thing, he actually suggested that the other bulbs were good if you want to spend extra dough. But like he said he's ran all the major manufacturers and none of them were so overwhelming that he felt compelled to not use the standard bulb.

That being said I personally like hps bulbs with more blue spectrum.
