i love the arguments from the mids growers, who have no idea the difference good cuts make. mainly because any cuts often do well. and of course every dick and cunt with a smart phone is on strainly diluting the pool like the hills have eyes

you cannot polish a turd into gold... but some people like shit shows, and thats fine..for them
People who hate clone only cuts never grown them. Its the blind leading the blind as usual.

I tried to find a place in my state that did tissue cultures, only a few and they never returned my e-mails. But I would gladly pay around $500 to save on cut I have, wouldn't bat an eye. I won't run it anymore but I keep a mother just in case I find a place one-day. I also won't shed a tear if I don't, plenty of nice stuff out there, but this is this and that is that.

The good thing is that the more widespread the tissue culture labs are, the more competitive the pricing will get. I heard dark heart changing thousands but I never asked. Personally I'd either set up my own lab. But a small set up would probably cost around 5k. For lab grade equipment.
Might be a good long term investment for bigger growers to get any cut they like and process it for future use and storage. I mean you can keep 100 strains in a suitcase sized area. No watering or whatever. Just storage.
Or for a strain I'd rather buy a few packs of seeds and do selections vs pay thousands for tissue culture.

I'd be very skeptical if ANYONE offers to clean a plant of hplvd for $500. It requires culturing the meristematic dome tissue (~.25mm) and can take up to 10-12 months to get a full size rooted plant.

I teach people how to do it but most of us charge $5000 to do this kind of service. It takes a lot of time and effort and we put our name and rep on the finished product. It is possible that you might be able to find someone cheaper on the east coast.

Tbh I'm told their is no clean up, but I'm sure theirs contrasting info info in this thread. Tools soaked in bleach for 20 min still tested for trace amounts. I do not have the lab work personally but their are a lot of farms in 502 affected by it...3rd party information so grain of salt.
Apical merristem tissue culture has been used in the horticultural and agricultural industries for decades to remove plant diseases. Its not even a debated topic. BUT cost and time etc.. Not for everyone.

ya ive head that too was told its spendy, i meant more like no clean up we can do
Or if its even worth the time, effort, or money.

Curious to how the virus shows itself.

I had a cut of GG4, probably the most whored out cut in existence. It would definitely show signs of what I know now to be hplvd but periodically. I would take 24 cuts for example, 20 would have vigor, big green fan leaves, the other 4 would be far behind. All fan leaves were small and growth was retarded. Lighter colored leaves with the classic purple stems.. The buds would be airy and nodes stacked very close together. It would show signs of a deficiany or lock out. You would swear they were two different plants but all from the same original cut Fed the same, conditions all the same.

It seemed if I only cut from the healthy plants, and discarded any that were not, I could keep the strain performing by taking extra cuts and discarding any unhealthy.

Not the way to do it, but thinking back now, it was strange how it affected the plant. I wonder if it depended on where you took the cuts from, maybe tops that were vigorous slowed the virus down?

enough that we dont know that its def a issue.

right now the process we are using is tools are batch/mother/strain specific, lots of spray bottles and chikamasa's, we will work on one room a day to limit contaminates, this is all theory as we only have 1 room with plants. Mother room will be a crap shoot, probably wont be able to keep a lot of mothers untill this gets figured out or we get more room

From what I've read it can lock up some branches by effectively clogging up that particular branch. I know some people do just live with it and just use the strongest plants going forward. In my case it got to a point when even if the mothers were healthy I couldn't get roots. So idk.. I think Long term it takes over. It could be possible you had a similar virus but not hplvd. Tmv has some weird symptoms too. But mostly asymptomatic from what I've experienced. who knows.

Right now I'm separating rooms up. One for quarantine, one for veg, one for reservoirs and one for flowering. And will be keeping every new cut separated from The rest for a long time. But that way I can flower everything. If I see it in flower, I can just bleach the flower room down after that run and cull The offending plant and ditch the tent it was in. I'd rather lose a tent than end up loosing a bunch of genetics. Also trying to make sure that there's no bugs like gnats wondering round anywhere since they probably spread all kinds of shit around. It's a pita I miss the times of just sticking a new cut in with the others and not worrying about it.
