hows the heat treating you guys??

Jonny does not like this fucking heat at all. Winter was easy man - open a window at night and just let the light fan blow right into your bedroom...summer - not so easy. I don't know about you guys but I run my lights at night so I'm always there if a problem arises and I can tend to shit when I get off work and I still had trouble keeping temps under 85 with my 600.

I'm just getting ready to start round #3 after a HIGHLY successful grow of Blue Dream (extremely potent shit my friends...highly recommended) and with this 97 degree BS, there's no F'ing way I can run a 600w MH 18 hours a day.

Jonny's solution? 8 Bulb HO T-5 spitting out around 20k lumens ( can't remember exactly). The cost ---- $160 with a discount. The reward ---- Jonny get's to veg with ZERO heat for 18 hours a day with tighter nodes. I've got an e-hard-on just thinking about my sexy new T-5 in my tent :)

As far as you guys who are running 3k-4k of light....if you can afford that kind of setup, jonny feels little sympathy for your plight lol

Keep in mind that every strain is different, a good rule of thumb is that 75 degrees is best for optimum growth but plants will survive just fine anywhere from 40-100 degrees.

I'm outdoors and just getting past a heat wave with temps 100+. Plants stressed a little but not bad. Had to water every day. After the heat wave the plants seemed to really take off but now I'm fights high winds. Had a main branch snap last night- propped it up using plastic zip ties and little tape, seems to be taking it well- no drooping at all. Just hope this wind settles down, it's a lot of work fixing broken branches. Does the stress from these breaks do any real harm to the end product?

I'm keeping my tent below 85. Running the ac directly into my tent works wonders. One 600 watt hps. I want to set up another light but I think I'll wait a month or so.

I run 12 High Output T5 bulbs in a tent and the room still needs an Ac unit running on a night like this :(

If your seed breeder was good there won't be a lot of problems triggering in plants til 90+, IMO. herms at 85 and 90 are lame I'm looking at you TGA....

1000w on a flip with a 600w veg, 450w 8 wide T5 for the mothers and a clone tent with a 4 wide T5 all in one 14x10' room here.
i've got a 12k btu portable ac unit from ideal-air in there and the temps are at a steady 78.
DTE loves me...

Work sucks, I'm out of the sun, but still don't get much of a break from the heat.

the cab is under control, but I don't have central AC. Humidity is my issue. I made sure that I had a hardy strain in there for the summer, flowering in lat July/August is something I'm not sure I'll do again.

very nice. 600's are the way to go especially this time of year. i know someone who just toasted 2 bulbs in their 1000w set up. i bet money it was the heat yesterday and today.
I have been running 2 1ooo watts with raptor hoods with no problem on the cooling tip. lights off 69 ish lights on 76

Mini split AC's are the way to go. I will probably have one by next summer. My friend was running 2 12k window units and was having trouble keeping the temps down now I think he is running 1 24k mini split and I swear he could run double the amount of lights with zero heat issues. He says it only pops on for five minutes every half hour where before his ac ran constantly in the summer. I have been able to get by with a 12k window unit for 3600 watts but its always in the 80's and has gotten into the 90's a couple of times when lights are on but aside from having to water more my plants don't seem to mind. Also 8in hoods make a huge difference in keeping a room cool.

Im not doing so well.

12x12 room, 4x8 tent flower 2kw hps, and a 4x4 tent veg 432w T5 PAR lamps.. I have a dehumid running in there which is keeping my RH around 40-45% ambient and 30% in the tent at canopy level. total 2432w lighting, plus ballasts, fans, and dehumid. central air cant keep up with it even if the door is wide open and i need to get a dual hose unit in there ASAP.

window unit is a no go. mini split is a no go. since i live in an apartment, i am more willing to cut holes in the wall than open up any exterior windows to create a smell and noise leak. a hole in the wall can be fixed over a day or two with some relatively cheap material, no big deal. even though im medical, i dont want to do anything out of the ordinary and installing a mini split would make it pretty obvious and make the landlord give me a 30 day notice to move.

This unit's intake hose will have it's own hole behind the TV center in my living room. Exhaust hose goes into the bathroom which will have the door closed and the bathroom fan running. Involves $800 of tools and equipment that I am gonna put together somehow..

If I seal the room up, there is no way that the central AC can keep the area cool enough even with CO2. Without getting the 12k unit, there is no chance for my plants and no chance for CO2 to work.

Where does the exhaust from the bathroom go?

You really need to move that grow to a bigger and better place.

I ran a flex duct from my basement intake fan. it
pulls the nice cold air in whenever the ac is on. im normally running at 79* w/ac on. last 2 days been running 81 with ac on. I just bought an 8000btu portable unit yesterday. haven't had time to hook it up and everything yet. hopefully today, tom, or the weekend. im working 12+hr days until who knows when in a 110* bodyshop. so yes, im hotter than my flower room :( but I think we both consume equal amounts of water. lol

They make everything easier to deal with. Humidity, smell, security ect. ect.
My first unit I had to have someone install, now they almost all come with
precharged lines and are easy to install.

Exhaust from the bathroom goes out the bathroom vent. I have an inline carbon filter rig for the exhaust, any remaining odor should be taken care of.

Trust me, I would love to move this grow and myself to a bigger and better place. I just got this grow to where it is, it will be a while before I can upgrade to a better place :P

I find that anything with over 3 k worth of light during the summer becomes hell to cool unless you have some serious money to burn for environmental control . I have always taken advantage of the cold seasons while growing indoors and when summer comes around I run half way for about 3 months for my own peace of mind and pocket expense as it all balances out in the end . I keep my grow at 77 around the clock during the summer time heat waves with 82 being by oh shit point . .
