I've had all kinds of problems, I've done some really stupid things (molasses in my rez). But i have always kept my PH within range because it is important for nutrient uptake for the plants.

Odds are good that his first grow failed because his PH may have been way off. I know how it is to be broke, and try to do something with minimal supplies, but it can come back to haunt you most of the time.

I have a ph meter that I got from ebay for 15 dollars that still works very good, I've been using it for 9 months.

I'm not saying that it isnt possible to grow all the way through to flower without ever knowing what the PH is... if you did it, that is great, but it is uncommon.

I still find it amazing how well my plant is doing, considering the lack of supplies. In 4 weeks, with just what I have, this plant has taken over the 10 gallon tank I have it in lol. its about the size of a small beach ball haha.
