Hello everyone, fairly new here and and finishing up my first grow and thought I’d ask since there is a wealth of knowledge here. I picked 4 clones from purple city genetics and vegged them for just shy of 12 weeks. I had some problems I think overwatering at first and a ph issue so I feel the growth was stunted. It is now day 33 of flower and I think they are looking pretty good now. I just wanted some thoughts about the grow and maybe some tips. They are on average 24 inches tall. I was wondering if I should be expecting a bigger plant if I had it more dialed in and if so how long should I expect it to take to get to this size currently(in veg). Any guesses on expected weight(unless too early or still too many variables). Thoughts on my canopy management and lollipop (take more leaves off or did I lollipop too high?). Also if they look like they are trained well. Did a lot of lst and tried to top twice but might have fimmed? Not sure. Also if I look like I’m utilizing the trellis well. And tips and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys. First 2 pictures is the Apple fritter, next 2 are gush mints, then nyc piff #3, and the last picture is the papaya bomb. The piff is a lot short because maybe it was the only sativa dom?

Your first grow looks 100% nicer and healthier than a lot of well known masters here.

Great job and welcome.

It’s roughly 60-70% coco 15-20% worm castings and 20% perlite. I have no idea why I tried to mix it myself and make it more confusing. Got bags of rock dust, gypsum , and some other amendments but I decided against using because I don’t know enough.
Should of bought something pre mixed so it’s easier to get advice but it worked out. They went from 1 gallon to 3 and now put into 5 gallons right before flip.

Nice job on the first grow. Things I see that could be improved, since you asked. For 12 week veg I would expect a much fuller and spread out canopy. I don't know your set up so there could be a lot of different things you do to improve there. IMHO you took off way too much but I'm not a fan of the lollipop I'm more of a seventies porn bush type grower...I take off the bottom and as needed for good air flow but my plants stay pretty bushy on top. I also top a lot more and LST more to fill out the canopy. I would also get a smaller square trellis it's so much easier to get a good spread.

I'd guess at lease a couple of oz's but guessing weight is a tricky thing.

I would go straight coco and hold the pot size at 3 gallons next time. Or maybe use Promix if you want to add amendments, but I don't know much about that side of things.

Decent effort for a first grow, adding wormcastings to the coco, you want to treat it like a hydro/soil mix for the PH, Like between 5.9-6.3

My maths are based on assumptions.

AND WELCOME:p

Yea I’m open to all suggestions. I’ll probably do more experimenting once I allocate some more space for this. The defoliation and lollipop, I was hesitant at first but next thing you know I went ham on my plants. And I think I might try straight coco so I can try following a more consistent watering schedule. Need to study up on training more.
Need to lst more effectively or organize the placement of the branches better. Also I agree with the ph. I think I had ph problems when I watered a few times under 6ph(also had a cheaper ph pen at the time so maybe was completely off)

Keep things simple and save the experimentation fir when you have experience.

As others said, go straight coco or coco perlite but leave the ammendments out and treat it like it should be treated.
Smaller pots, though I'd of said 5 gal because that's my preference.

Read how to water /feed coco guides, yes you can water it how you like but youl run into less problems following the best practices.

Don't go all out on defoliation until you gave grown without so you can see the effects.
I don't bother but it's up to you how you grow , however seeing what a plant grows like more naturally will help you know if you want to go that route.

If your going to use a net get a more taught and smaller square one so you can weave or train better if that's your aim.

Learn the basics, tweak later and change one thing at a time.

Welcome to RIU

Yea I don’t know why I decided to go this way for first time lol. And I like that idea let it grow naturally to see how it is supposed to be.

Good job on your first grow, some don't get there on their first. I'm just saying because you asked and totally not being a dick or saying anything negative about your grow. So.... a 3 month veg if topped and trained right you could get 1 plant canopy to fill a 4x4 maybe 2 but it would be stuffed lol. Imo you took way too many leaves off but that's just me. But like I said good job. I think a sativa dom would be the tallest not shortest but idk
