If you pick up your pots youll know if they need water or not. my 5 gal. pot gets water every day and my 10 gal. every other day. Im in the high desert (Nevada). I have no rain so I use lots of water. every plant needs a gallon a day. As long as your pots drain good and you wait till they need more you should be good.

Thx for reply. The prob i cant wrap my head around for some reason is i read somewhere, over the last few months, that u dont wana let it dry out because of mycos. If i keep em moist im afraid ill get root rot.

Big difference between moist and soggy AFA root rot.

This will come from experience, yours, there is no schedule or timetable except what you figure out for your particular plants/mix/set up.

If you know your plants well, water when they start looking a bit *wilty* from lack of water. If you can't tell this, wait till they actually wilt (counting days), and then water one day sooner.

Remember, mycos in nature don't get rained on with any sort of schedule and still manage.

I have always watched the bottom fan leaves since I read it in Skunk Magazine sometime ago. The Rev also speaks to it in his TLO book. The day you see the bottom fans droop hit them with water. It takes one or two wet/dry cycles to see this and you are off. It has helped me a ton with timing. People would be surprised how much overwatering occurs. I have also heard about the practice of keeping the soil at a certain moisture level to allow the microflora to live. I admit to allowing my containers to get pretty dry. Find what works for you and go with it.

Wet's point about the lack of rain is spot on. Water with Azos too.

thx for replys guys. Yeah, if anything i let mine dry out too much. They rarely wilt much tho. Ive always had it in back of mind bout root rot, and that i dont wana go thru that. Also that roots need to breathe some. But this time im tryin all organic and usein mycos so was jus afraid of letin em dry too much and not takin full advantage of the lil buggers.
Makes sense that btm fan leaves would react first, hadnt really thought bout it tho. Like with most issues it can usualy be noticed there first.
And with rain in nature, duh. Seems like always over-analyzing.ha
Thx again guys, brought me back to my senses.lol
Azos?

If they rarely wilt, you are not letting them dry out too much. LOL

The bottom leaves trick is a good one to learn. I've been growing the same strain for over 4 years now, so a quick glance is usually good. But, it took a bit to get that glance down.

even if they start to dry out on top there will still be some amount of moisture near the roots, which is the only place mykos actually works anyway.(even more-so with bigger containers, unless you let them get really dry.)

I guess my point is this. I know mary will 'grow' in alot of conditions and in alot of different 'mediums'. But i wana do everthing i can to make it as easy on her as i can.

Thrive, not survive.

Hey, that sounds knida kewl! My new motto, and all because i toked a happy stick. :eyesmoke:
