How to use CO2?

Hi everyone!

I am thinking of adding co2 to my grow. My plants currently get around 250ppm co2 (Thats what it says on my co2 monitor I already have).

I feed my plants around 1.2-1.8 in flower. When i use co2 will I need to feed more? My umols is ~700, is that enough? Using CXB3590 COBS.

250 seems low. Ambient outdoor around 350ish.

Are you bringing in fresh air? Sealed with AC?
What does your meter read outside?

Indeed. You need more fresh air to keep it near 350....ideally.

Thats what happens when I exchange a Co2 tank during lights on. 2 hours drops from 1200 to 250. The choking point.

I have been running my co2 like this for years. What would the effects be of low co2? I have an 8 inch fan extracting out a 8sqm room. I think airflow is enough. Eitherway, I will be adding co2....but I wonder what the low co2 has meant for me?

O2 levels in the air aren't really a concern but are in the root zone whether hydro or soil/soilless. Some good articles at that site but I notice a lot of fairly useless articles are sponsored by AN.

Slow growth, if way too low, death.

Your meter reads pretty low, I wonder if it is accurate as ambient should be 350 to 400. Have you tested it outside to see what it reads?

If you are going to use CO2 at a level higher than ambient, say 1000 PPM, you should run temps a little warmer to speed the metabolism of the plants so you can get faster growth and better yields. You will also notice the drink more, so if in soil watering a little more often. They will generally want a little stronger feed PPM because you are pushing them to the limit. They will tell you what they need.

You won't benefit from CO2 enrichment unless you are running a sealed grow with air conditioning to cool the space. If you are venting you will just blow the CO2 out.

Hey Porky. By chance does the Co2 increase above 250 during lights out?

I havent seen this. The meter is in the room so I will need to go in and look.

I have a meter and a control with a meter, they are both giving me the SAME readings.


Here's a pic of my plants @250ppm co2

I am in a very foresty area, so its possible because im surrounded by vegetation my co2 levels are a bit lower.

Most plants will not survive at 180 ppm, and 250 means you aren't getting air to your grow. Ambient CO2 in the atmosphere is right at 410 ppm. Your plants are using it up, and slow or no growth is the result.

If your grow is in occupied space, you get CO2 for "free".
I get 750- 1200 ppm in my house with two adults and a dog.
Don't grow anything but houseplants though.

I have two meters. I will take a photo of the readings.

they both show the same.

I googled and my area is 350PPM.

I think its reasonable for the PPMS to drop to 250PPM with ventilation. Without it would be far less.

Anyway, I have got my co2 machine and will install.

Thanks for the share man! Looks awesome. Perfectly fed! What week flower? looks around week 6.

I see you have your monitor there channel 3, where are the other two? Can I see your graph?

Here's a pic of my other plants waiting to go into flower that's grown under 2,000 watts Cxb3590 led that I installed on hoists so I can raise them as the plants grow:)

Looking great! I just got a bunch of camera's Wyze sense so will be doing time lapses so I should beable to show the progress shortly. Just need to install internet in the area!

Where do you find such numbers?
Besides that I think it is hard to find the amount of CO2 for a certain small area, I also think that it is not true anyway.
CO2 levels change during the day and night. If you live in the forest, the ppm will be higher during the night.
(that's why it sometimes is better to have the lights on during nighttime anyway > more CO2. It's also colder at night > you need less cooling in your room)
They can also be different in one end of the street to the other.
Close to a busy street the ppm will be higher, for example.

The worldwide average is above 400 ppm.

Iets say im in an area surrounded by tree's:) So my co2 levels are indeed lower. I have my co2 generator so all will be ok!
