How to store worm castings

Hey guys, I just harvested a very nice batch of homemade vermicompost. This should last me a few months hopefully, but I'm not sure what the best way to store it is.

I actually vacuum sealed big bags of it yesterday, but it got me thinking. It's a living thing (the microbes in the ewc) so wouldnt vacuum sealing it kill the life? Or would it be just fine and stay fresh this way?

Any help would be great thanks in advanced.tf1579253321057.jpg

I found the answer to my question, so I figured why not share in case someone else has the same concern...

I use a totes with the lid off and drain holes. Mist with water on occasion so it doesn't get dry. Recently I have been adding a thin mulch layer of leaves and straw for my finished castings which seems to keep it more "alive" and helps it not dry out to fast.

You can keep em in any old used peat or compost or perlite or whatever bag, twist the top and slap a tie around it and go on. Most compost bags will have a few aeration holes already. I open mine and roll the casting around occasionally.

I do pretty much the same, but I like to sprinkle a very small amount of steel cut oats or a random amendment and watch the fungi form and break it down. Then I'll mix it all back in gently after a week or so. I'll do it maybe once a month or so as I don't use my castings too fast. I figure as long as I can see the microbes forming and breaking things down, everything must be ok.
