How to stop clones roots from drying out?... help, first time cloning

My first time cloning. Im cloning in root riot cubes on a shallow bed of hydroton in a heated propagator.

At the start I had a small bit of water at the bottom of the propagator, but it was leeching up through the hydroton into the cubes and the cubes were staying soaked. So I drained the water out (this was 7days into cloning), 2 days later roots are starting to show on 5 of the clones, but I noticed 1 of the roots coming out of one of the cubes looks dry, its going slightly brown. How can I keep the roots moist without keeping the cubes too wet?

Also do I need to foliar spray when roots start showing? And lastly, they will be going into 12/12 straight away, so how much root mass do I need before transplanting them into the dwc system?

Did you really not bother to google this or atleast you tube???
WATER in my country it comes from taps and I think like every one needs it and every one knows plants need water.
Ok you tube propogation then ebay propogation kit, find one with babby nutrient and cubes,Id say stonewool or rockwool. If you live in real cold place like me get a heated one and get some clone x or any cloning gel for plants.
Im sure youl find a kit cheap which will also have gel/babby nutrient/cubes and even a manual will tell you every thing on how to start cloning and doing seed to full harvest, rember theres way loads more plants then cannabis plants what are legal every were. :-)
Good Luck my friend

I tried using water but it keeps the cubes im using too moist, did you read the full post?

the exact question was "How can I keep the roots moist without keeping the cubes too wet?" Of course I googled and searched this site first, I'm not looking for a guide on HOW to clone or what to buy ( ihave a heated propagator/root riot cubes/clonex etc), as I have already followed lots of guides, but im just wondering how to keep the roots moist without keeping the cube too wet.

just mist them when you feel they need it! that way they will not be over-soaked

soon as you see roots popping out the can be transplanted!

They are going straight into 12/12 though, no veg time, most people say you need some decent roots before putting into 12/12. How many roots and rough size would I need to drop into 12/12?

I suppose I could mist them a few times a day, a bit risky though if im not around and they dry out :(

ebb n flow style. or i made a sprayer tote for clones.
I had a bubble cloner set up with another set of clones, but I couldnt afford an aquarium heater at the time so they wouldn't root after 10 days as it is too cold at the moment, that's why i went with the heated propagator and cubes for now. I'll definitley be using the bubble cloner on the next set.

I find water works well ...
 you think??? i was thinking pure hydrochloric acid would do the job....

Obviously water, but how to administer without keeping cubes too moist and not having to spray them a few times a day, that's what i was trying to find out, because the root triot cubes hold a bit extra water than rockwool

Well...when they are in need...water them allow the excess water to drain...then they should be good for a bit as you are saying. and clones root fast, seeds take a bit to get going so clones don't need to veg if you dont want too? i personally do not go straight to 12/12 ...i like to give them i bit of veg time before flipping the switch but everyone is different! There are people who go straight 12/12 from seed! and there plants root fine they just usually are allot shorter?

as soon as i see roots i put them in pots...far as veg time they are clones so they can go straight to 12/12 once in pots....it just depends if you want big plants or if you have to keep em short! hope i helped :)

hey man, cheap as shit: get a 150gph pump-$10.99 some tubing/elbows/180 degree sprayer heads-$10 and a 14g tote-$5.99 Build a square with the tube tee'ing into the pump. the pump will heat up the tote quite a bit and this is big enough for 26 or more clones.

interesting, i have a submersible pump here, maybe i could just put that in my bubble cloner and circlate the water to heat it.

thanks for the info, i dont mind having the plants small as they will be a test, if all goes well then il do a full grow of clones straight to 12/12, at the moment i only have enough clones for 2 out of 6, 6 site dwc containers.
