How to sponsor some one?

I looked at it, it says something about loans, can you loan these people money? can I loan small amounts like a dollar? I saw the prices looked high. What do they put up as collateral? If I loan one of them a dollar how much interest can I charge? what happens if they don't pay? Say I loan out $5 and the guy puts up the title for his goat and he misses a payment can I foreclose on his goat? and if he does pay can I make good money on the interest from the loan? Say i lent $5 and the guy pays me 50 cents at a time, can I make say $20 off of him on a $5 loan? This seems like it might be a good opportunity, I would like to learn more.
if that person doesn't pay on time you wouldn't really have any legal standing to do anything about it.
and i'm pretty sure it's illegal to offer or advertise yourself as a money lender.

you would probably have to get a credit license, which would cost you.
and if you were to charge crazy interest rates, nobody would want you to loan them money in the first place.

i'm not too educated about that kind of stuff though so i could be way off.

i always found it shady that these orgs are set up to output money to the less fortunate in other countries when they actually have a payroll and pay themselves fairly well. while that is cool and all, we should be putting the money back into the USA or what ever your home country is to fix your local/regional/national problems first before helping other countries.

take haiti for instance, every time i watch or see something on the news about them its all these people in tent cities waiting in food lines sponsored by other nations/nonprofit orgs. why aren't they gathering in force to rebuild their country? where is their pride?

i'm a dick right?

I think I want to sponsor a Mexican and a Somalian, im thinking about mailing 100 pennies a month, I just want to pick spmeone at random from one of their poor areas, how could I get a name and address? Maybe google earth or google maps? Anyone else want to do this? Maybe we can make it a movement or a trend.
I will pm you my address and you will be able to sleep better at night knowing you sent money to someone who really could use it

The Church my daughter goes to school at sponsors a child every year through different fund raising programs to get them an education.

I'm sure a Church would be a great place to start looking for a way to help. It doesn't take a lot of money to help a child in need in a 3rd world country.

+rep for your thread.

Beardo , your kidding . Started out trying to help a guy in need and now your a loan shark ? I like your first idea . We used to do a lot for the homeless but after years of volunteering and helping out at the soup kitchen I moved away . Around here they get a lot more so I don't do that any more
ya no kidding. If your trying to make a living off loans then third world countries isnt your best bet. Charity is just that, giving without the thought of a return gift. If it really was an act of charity, who the fuck cares if he keeps your dollar?
