How to soundproof your inline fans.

I built a similar box out of 3/4" plywood I had laying around then filled that sumbitch with expandable foam for sealing cracks and such. No heat issues whatsoever, so don't be affraid to fill that box. I also run a speed controller as it only needs to be on about 2/3 speed to control temps in room. Last thing I did, was hang it from the ceiling with thick rubber bungee cords which seriously reduced the vibration transfer and subsequent noise levels, over using the bracket that came with the fan.

I agree, the air moving through the duct is the loudest part now, but the slight noise that is there is less conspicuous than the rather large insulated ductwork stretching across my basement.

Thanks guys! I've got rubber seals for the brackets that I might add---not really sure the difference.
Ill be waiting for my foam and green glue and green sealant that's the #1 leading product for sound proofing rooms...

I'm going to post some photos and a video with the units out & then with the units in the box, then with the foam padding then with the insulted ducting.... Stay tuned!
