That's interesting about using the compost to keep the pests away I did not know that. i usually amend my soil usually a week or two before I plant .This year I'm using kelp meal crab meal neem seed meal and a product called BioLive from down to earth. it has beneficial bacteria and myhcorrizia fungi. And I only use neem oil and garden insect spray with spinosad from Monterey. I have drenched with a spinosad before and im considering doing it now. I use it every year for Caterpillar control. I'm going to use it probably every week or two this year throughout the whole season as a foliar spray. Maybe I didn't use it enough last year. I'm going to you sticky traps if I have to don't lie to me because a lot of the parasitic wasps and other stuff gets stuck to it too and no more of my field around the garden hopefully I'll be okay

First... you are literally killing off all the good bacteria
Second.... if you are worried about pests get some benificial nematodes from amazon. They literally kill over 200 different species of bugs but they leave the worms alone.
They do the work for you..... remember "work smarter not harder"

Good point about the beneficial nematodes. Its illegal to import any live critters into Hawaii, so I sometimes forget that those things are options for other people

They are amazing! Best way to go! I got a whole mess of them in my fridge (my Gf hates when I store my bugs in there hahhahah)
