I come back to this, and you know what. I am doing this shit....
Yeah, unless you work drains in the bottom, each bucket will contain, for me, about 1/2 gal of old solution. My biggest question when it comes to RDWC is, what is the easiest way of draining/ cleaning out the system ? right now I just make up my new nute mix in a fresh bucket, drop the cover/net pot on it, all done. wash out the old bucket set it aside for the next swap out.
I figure if im somehow switching the RDWC pump to a drain line out, its still going to leave a residual amount of crap in the system.
Well, I use a little aquarium pump, but i know what you mean. How about PPM? What's your plan?Inspiring thread... I'm running a single 3 gal DWC bucket. 2 1/4 gallons up to the netpot. I drain the remaining gallon of nutes the following day and replace with fresh nutes every night. At least I know by doing this my roots are nice and lush lmao . but it would be nice to be able to leave it for a few days to go away for a weekend here and there. Having a remote rez seems like something I should look into building. I do have a bottom drain valve on my bucket for easy draining. That I learned from my first DWC gig.. I hated using a freaking hand pump to get all the old water out.
Hmmm....inside the tub with air pots...very cool. How do you re-circulate the drain water from the tub?I have experimented with most DWC methods. If I was going to try UC, I would place some kind of dam to break up the nutes to create splash and saturate the air space. I think offsetting the I/O holes would help, too. JMO
I prefer watering from the top down via Hydro Halo Drip Rings with simple gravity drain back to rez. Not using as drip though, I use a 320 gph pump which creates fast stream from the 54 holes per ring
