How to prune a trained plant? First attempt.

This is my first grow, indoor or otherwise. I saw someone train a plant by topping it and flattening it and tying it down. So i tried it and it worked great. Now i have a load of bud sites on a 5 inch plant. I feel it needs to be pruned for best yeild but im not sure what to cut off and what stays. Any and all suggestions would be welcome.15847762936161434796280.jpg15847763578931345165782.jpg

i'd pull off everything reallow that isn't getting light , i'd pull off a bunch of big fan leaves and depends on space and time to veg i'd prob keep training but let it get some height at same time its what i'm doing with mine now

Well thats the thing, as it is now every single bud site is getting the same amount of light. Some are closer to the center of the stalk but there are no bud sites below the node where it was topped. They are evenly flat. I just dont know where or even if to thin any out.

Do i get rid of the smaller secondary buds or because they are getting great light will they still make good bud just smaller

What kind of light are you using?as for the pruning ........Yep them leaves are gone! But remember not to take too many the little girl need a a few solar panels but ya looks like you need more sunshine there

Ok now I took a real close her and I've got to say she is pretty ! no signs of bugs or nutrient burn ,I've grown thousands of those things so I know a pretty one when I see one.........please tell me it's a female from a clone or feminized seed otherwise you just tied up and pruned a pretty guy!

Big lower leaves first, then leaves pointing inwards the plant. You have done really good job training the plant So dont worry about the "sucker branches"

Well thanks. I studied every forum and how to on growing one like that. Figured i would try it on this one. Im just nervous about cutting anything off. And yes its a female and sad to say but i did do all the work before i knew if it was female or not. But i just turned the lights 12/12 on the 14th and im seeing nice little preflowers with hairs on em.

Oh yea and i took it out of the grow tent to take the picture thats why it dosent look like its getting good light. But i have a 1200w led 235w draw and a 600w led 115w draw in my tent.

I grow with mh/hps but it's been quite awhile since I grew and when I stoped leds weren't around or at least they weren't around me/lol so I never heard or seen the things now I started back up last October and they're all the rage I was warned against them I heard a lot of negative feed back but I had to see for myself so I blew about 500 bucks on those pretty red and blue ones what a mistake!

Now that being said when I did get my hps wired up I left the leds in the tent and I'm not 100% if it was because I left the leds in the tent but holy fuck!those were some of the frostiest buds I've ever seen I could almost stitch the fuckers to the wall/lol now don't let me discourage you or make you think you can't grow with your leds just because I didn't like them maybe they're the light for you

I'll be interested to see the end result, when are you flipping them?
Well i read a bunch on leds and talked to many people about them and i found out that when it says its a 1200 watt dont even consider that part. You have to look at the actual draw wattage(235w)but i did talk to someone who has been using the same lights i have and he uses 2,1200w on a 4×8 table and he says its always done the job. But you know how everyone has different opinions. also leds have supposedly come a long way in the last few years But from what i read one of the biggest mistakes with the leds is the factory says "it will cover a 5.5ft×5.5ft area at 24in and 32in.so thats where people mess up. It will only cover a 2×4 area at 18inches effectively. But ill find out soon enough. I just flipped the lights 12/12 on march 14th

You did a great job with topping and LST. I would leave them alone. Don't pick anything off now. They look great. Just keep doing what you're doing and be careful who you listen to on here.

Well now looking a little closer, there are a few little tiny branches that I would cut towards the bottom center. But not too many.

Keep 3 nodes on all the mains you are keeping to develope into cola's and take everything below that off, its still in veg it will take a couple days to recover from that but it wont hurt any potential yeild quite yet and will have plenty of time to grow from there before flower, if its only 5 inches tall then you could veg for a few more weeks if you want to and that many colas i would and lightly prune one more time just before you flip the lights and let her go from there, looks really good though and dont be to worried about trimming that little ladie, she will grow those mains from there and have some good growth energy going into the flip if you trim and let it come back and give her a light trim before the flip

Thanks that is what i needed to know. 3 nodes and then everything after that. Ok but there are some taller shoots (2 or 3 inch) below the third node, they are a lot thinner and smaller than the mains. Do those stay? Then there are the ones that are not grown away from the branch yet. Those get cut right?

Hello op...imo I would not prune anything just yet. You did a beautiful job training her. Flip, wait two to three weeks, then trim anything undesirable.
Looking at her now, she is going to be impressive indeed for your first time.
Again, just my opinion.
Good luck.

where the white straw is, that is the 3rd node. I put the lighter next to the next 2 tops, and they have one on each side. Then the same on the branch below. The tops on the next branch lower are just now getting as tall as the next branch. Do those go?
