How to make buds dense with CFL?

Hey, im growing 1 plant with 7 40w (150w equivalent) CFLs and the biggest problem ive seen with CFL is the buds tend to be alittle less dense. I prefer denser buds and I was wondering if there was ne nutes or ne way of manipulating the plant to get this effect thanks

depends on the size of the area & the plant.. and 50% of it is what strain you are growing! If you are growing a mostly sativa that doesn't get real dense- you can't change that..

But if it is a strain that can get dense-- the CFL's aren't the issue- the nutes, feeding & watering schedule you use and airflow do matter...

What nutes are you using?
Soil or hydro?
What strain is it?

Blue cheese doesn't get real big buds-- but they ARE dense, and one of the best smelling smokes (IMO) you can find! It's one of our Fave grows-- but not a huge yielder... But she does get dense and very frosty toward the end of grow...

Here's the feed schedule for your nutes! ;)

FOX FARMS SCHEDULE

Product list:

Grow Big--$16
Tiger Bloom--$16
Big Bloom --$16
Open Seseme--$23
ChaChing--$23
Beastie Bloom --$23
And the Optional : Bush Doctor Sledgehammer--$26

There is a 3-pack available for $65 of Open Sesame, Cha Ching and Beastie Bloom IF you can find it!

The last 4 Products are used in small quantities and only at specific times during the grow -- so if you know someone who wanted to go in on the 3-pack with ya, it would be worth it!

Here's the FoxFarms Feeding Schedule for Soil... Hydro is MUCH more complex, unless you use bubblersthen you can follow a Phasic feeding schedule

please dont waste your money on all 3 of foxfarms bloom boosters.

density really depends on genetics. and it's pretty safe to say buds grown with CFLs will not be as dense as those grown under the sun or HPS. But hey, there's more to life than dense buds.

The only advice I can give you is to keep them as close as possible, because CFLs dont penetrate a canopy very well

What cfl's are you using? 2700k, or 6500k. Also, could use more light, or maybe some side lighting.
I used twelve 23 watt bulbs, two 55 watt, and four 4ft. dual tube florescent fixtures on the back wall.
Didn't have a problem getting dense nugs.

Open Sesame, Cha Ching, Beastie Bloomz have Mono Potassium Phosphate as the main ingredient. Look it up on ebay, you'll pay 1/3 to 1/4 the price of the FF bloom boosters

Funny you should ask lol. I just finished my second white russian grow (real nice BTW). I have not yet weighed it but I'm sure its well under the weight of my first grow. The differences are the second grow was trapped under T5's (both 2700 & 6500 sunblaster) for 6 weeks @ 12, then too a 600. The first grow was vegged under the T5's and moved to a 400 @ 12, real tight big buds. The first grow came in at 410 gr for 6 plants, I think I am going to be around 300- 350(I hope), real fluffy airey buds. I'm sure that nutes play a big part in the plants development and I would think strain type also plays a huge role. I thought I'd try some premium nutes on the second grow as well so I purchased PH Perfect. I also bought Overdrive. I typically use one product that comes as two parts in either veg or bloom. It is manufactured by highgrow and cost like $20 for a gallon of a and a gallon of b. Thats it nothing else goes into the res except PH down and very rarely up. Oh and a bit oh hydrogen peroxide. So to get back to the thread, sorry, nutes got better second grow, persumably, other than the occasional newb F^&% ups the only change was the light. Also is there a huge advantage to using 6 different products on a plant. and you say it gets more complexed with hydro, wow. I switched and really didnt see a whole lot better but light was the variable. Oh and the second grow was a bit longer to finish as well. Here is a pic of Critical Kush using cheaper nutes at 29 days from seed and 9 days at 12. image002.jpg

I use BC Grow, BC Boost, BC Bloom and Awesome Blossoms as a bloom booster. I have used most of the "rocket science" nutes and I found them not worth the expense or trouble. Good genetics, good light and a simple nute program is what I have found to be the best for my grows. Peace
