Frosty frosty :)

Guys, I am having burning tips on the WW
Should I give up nutes for her?
They are all in the end of week 5.

Lately I feed them every second watering with:

Nova soil mix 3ML
Big bud 2ML
Cal mag 1-2ML

Last time was only tap water with cal-mag

* Also opened a post in the nutes forum but I asked before and no one answered me... so I am trying here..
thanks!

Check your PH and EC. Plant on the front have same issue.
Yes, minor compare to the WW (the WW is on the left and the Aurora is in the front)

Ok I will balance the ph to 6.5 (don't have EC meter... didn't know I need that for soil?)

But can I feed or better to pass? I need to water here today (actually now)

Thanks

I take a lot of leaves around day 21 and then again around day 42 depending on need. The idea of leaves being solar panels is out dated in my opinion. The majority of commercial and home/medical gardens I follow on IG defoliate. I can say for sure I do way better when stripping plants hard, otherwise even with de 1k lights you just get too much larf on lowers.

I swear by aggressive defoliation. I cut off every fan leaf attached to a main stem as well as anything directly over a bud site when I switch to 12/12, and then at about 21 days I go back through the plant and remove any more fan leaves that are covering bud sites, then touch it up through about week 5. I also lollipop to an extent, by cutting off any branches that are unlikely to reach the level of the trellis by the end of the stretch. I don’t know if this method is perfect, but I only end up with a handful of larf on every plant. The more diligent I am with this throughout flowering the less larf I end up with. I’d take a pic of one of the plants I just stripped and put in the flowering tent this weekend but the lights are off, they’re under a trellis, and even with the lights on they’re packed in and hard to get the right angle. This is the closest pic I have, which I just pruned up for the first time in order to take some clones. She’ll get stripped even harder before flowering. This one is bodega bubblegum from greenpoint

Also noticed you mentioned white widow and aurora. Assuming this is nirvana gear I’ve grown out both and the white widow pheno I kept for a while was a pain in the ass because of how much pruning she needed. Untouched she just became a solid mass of extremely frosty larf. She was so compact and bushy and branchy that all but the highest bud sites were starved of light without extremely aggressive pruning. The aurora was less tedious and grew chunkier buds with less stripping.

Here’s a plant I just deboned and put into jars tonight. She got the aforementioned defoliation treatment but kinda half assed TBH. There was maybe a cup of larf that went into the trim bin. This one is purple Larry from greenpoint. This pheno had a hard time with the high temps and low humidity. She’ll do even better over the winter.

I did in the past, few time.
I am 1-2 weeks before GSC ends, 2-3 for the WW and the Auroro. I think. +-

Correct me guys if I am wrong, now its not the time for defoliation...
I am moving the leaves no to block buds from light as good as I can, I don't want to touch a single leave now, but maybe I should?

Yeah don’t be afraid to really strip off those fan leaves. You want as much light shining directly on the flowers as possible. It may seem a little counterintuitive that cutting up a plant that much will actually be beneficial, but I’ve done it both ways, and absolutely swear by highly aggressive defoliation. The only reason not to is if you actually want some larf for edibles.

About a year ago a local friend of mine had to try pretty hard to convince me. I was skeptical that stripping a plant that hard wouldn’t hurt it. He showed me some pictures of his plants and then challenged me to try it on mine. I have not looked back.

Wait. I can tell you’re ESL and can’t quite understand what you mean. Are you a few weeks from harvest or a few weeks from switching to 12/12? If you’re 4 or fewer weeks away from harvest it’s too late for aggressive defoliation to do much good, but just take the same challenge I did with your next run. Before you flip to 12/12, cut off all the big fan leaves attached to the main stalks as well as any that are directly blocking bud sites, clip off all the lower side branches that won’t reach the canopy, and touch it up throughout flowering. I promise you’ll be amazed by how much denser and bigger your nugs get.

Yes, 1-2 week from harvest on the big GSC and 3 week top on the Aurora.
Next time :)

Post some updates in here since I’m subscribed to this thread now. A lot of people like to bash nirvana for reverse engineering and copycating strains (for instance their “GSC” is a cross of their reverse engineered OG and Durban and the parents are probably nothing like the OG and Durban that made the Bay Area GSC), but I’ve gotten some solid phenos from their gear. That said I facepalmed when I saw on their site that they’re selling a cross of their reverse engineered OG and sour diesel as “chemdog”. Chemdog made OG and diesel - not the other way around lol. Greenpoint is the best destination for all things chemdog.

Nice buds!
What kind of a oscillating fan do you use? I have a 2" PC fan, but it doesn't give enough air flow.
Very basic, they are weak, but quiet...the stronger ones are noisy. And I have the vent coming from the bottom with silver pipe that directing the air between the plants from the bottom.
This is a small 2X2 tent

do you have an expected yield? Looks amazing, great colors, and I love seeing full 2x2s.
I think I will get 25+- gram from the Auroroa
40-50 from the WW? maybe more
maybe 100 from the GSC if I am lucky :)

140 - 180?
Not sure yet.

I had only one grow before in this tent (3 plants also) and I came up with 160+- gr. (30, 30, 105) something like that, I didn't write it down.

I like 3 strain cause its fun, it for personal use and I like to switch on daily basis.
But if I go only with the GSC, I think I can get a lot more from her.

Next time one plant.
After you get some weed stock, it will be fun to go with one strain and to maximize it.
I learned that super cropping and defoliation can take scrog to amazing results.

Here some photos from now, tomorrow I will harvest GSC ( I think ha ha)
Looking now I think I will get more than 150gr this time in total, but what do I know... I am new to this.

Here is a harvest advice post I asked with more details.

Harvest and trim!

Around 30 buds, some are very big.

I decided to left the bottom buds to develop some more, after all the tent still works for the WW and the Aurora (that is getting dry from day to day)

* The photo of the tent is after harvest - still many buds to grow and I am not in a harry, this is personal small grow for my health so I don't need the tent.

The only thing I regret that I didn't defoliate more!
When harvest, I can see the difference between buds that got all the light and buds that didn't. Some of the big buds are all over the branch, and the only different is light...

Next time :)

Thanks for the support and help guys, much appreciated.
