I used several black plastic trash bags rolled into 1 inch strips then stapled them around the door. I just use a towel at the bottom but you could easily use another bag to make the bottom light proof as well.
Just staple or velcro panda film or black plastic on the inside of the door. That way when you open the door the first thing you see a big black or white second door basically that you pull out of the way.

this is the best way, provided you have good ventilation

My ventilation sucks ball. I leave the door cracked or open during the day.My room has an AC and stays pretty cold. my closet is 2W x 4L x 8H, I saw 250 CFM fans for 20 bucks. Will this be enuff to vent my closet? 12 CFLS(2700k) get pretty hot. My last bagseed grow dident seem to mind 90F temps but I dont know how these "designer" strains will react.

ok thanks for the ideas like draft excluder, trash bags, panda plastic and staple or velcro panda film which I will look into all of them. Black plastic sounds popular and that is easy to get hold of so I might use some trash bags too although I'm a little worried it could be fire prone! My walls are already flat white and it's just to stop light leaking when doors are closed and you can see my setup here: https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/207548-my-first-indoor-grow-challange.html#post2706667

What I did to completely blackout my grow room( I have sliding doors so I had to make sure no light was egtting through those cracks without taping it everytime i wanted to check on my girls) I hung a tyhink sheet over my grow room, and I closed the blinds, curtains and put another sheet up over the window to completely blackout any sunlight coming in through that window. Just throughout the day I have the sheet lifted up in front of the grow room so ventilation can get through under the doors and such. :leaf:

Man 90F is really hot for this stuff bro... 75-80 is just right. when I grow in a closet I left the door open and put a deadbolt on my bedroom door to replace shitty apartment doorknob. In the door of the closet I stuck a huge shop fan and kept it on the lowest setting, pointing right at my group of six indicas and the 400 watt HPS. This was barely enough to keep it cool in there, and I am pretty sure my bud was weak because of that one element - heat. The heat lowers your yeild and can make the shit weak. If you have a choice I would not grow in a closet at all... You should try a stealth grow in some type of cabinet. This is what I am doing now. keep it where the air conditioned air can reach it, not in the closet. Closet = bad IMO. I would rather grow one medium sized, very potent plant than 5 or 6 big, weak plants full of weak bud. your temperature is 10F - 15F too Hot. you need to focus on the heat issue and then address other things. I'll be positing pics of my cabinet as I build it.

mine is about 75f or 25c -27c so I think it's fine and I already have fans in my closet. I don't think there is anything wrong with a closet, in fact I think it is one of the best places to grow as you have plenty of height and room. I have mine quite nicely setup now with various PC fans keeping the air flowing. Check out my grwo in my sig and look at the last pics I posted.

What you need is a "door bottom" and some foam tape for the door jam.
I ended up applying black electrical tape which works quite well and is probably fireproof too. I have it going around all the edges now and it has blocked out all the light very well.

its mainly about ventilation in any environment if ventilation is fine with adequate c02 and heat is at a good range terpenes and trichomes can reach optimal potency :D
