How to keep calibration of PH meters...

There are salt-packs/solutions available to recalibrate it, normally you need 2 of them. one acidic and one alcaline.

Place a piece of sponge in the cap. throw a few drops of PH storage solution on the sponge till its moist. You'll be good to go far a lot longer than with out. Saves the probe's tip life span as well.

Yeah, I ordered ($5?) a bottle of 7.0 solution (which is essentially potassium I've read). Every once in a great while I'll drop the probe into a shot glass of it to cal bak to 7.0. I keep several drops of it in the meter's cap to prolong the useful life of the meter. I only cal once in a blue moon and it stays rock solid, I attribute that to the storage method. YMMV.

For what it's worth, I grow in hempy buckets, so I'm gonna dtw atbout 60-120ml of solution every day. So suffice to say, I go through nute solution, so I make alt of nute solution. Only three things mixed with tapwater so I can probably do it in my sleep.

Kcl solution, soak probe for 24hours to rehydrate it once a month and for storage in the cap, probes dont last forever though...

And the Truncheon?
I don't know of any ph probes that go for five years, your ec meter should be good for a lot longer. My ec meter is on a 3 in one truncheon, it has ph but the probe is well past being accurate as five or so years old. The ec meter is always bob on and that's all I use, presently using a bluelab ph meter and that whould keep accurate for two years min with kcl solution and monthly rehydrating with 24 hour soaks using the kcl.

Watch this promo for my bluelab ph meter, this is how to properly care for a meter and explains your 24hour soaks, maintenance and calibiration for their two point meter.

If you have a one point calibiration meter then they are pretty crap for accuracy as time goes on and don't calibirate that well. Good luck

Respectfully disagree. There are tons of folks using and relying on single point meters and are growing huge. I believe that many folks aren't taking care of their equipment, or simply bought poor equipment to begin with. I'd bet the degradation is likely secondary to user error. A quality ph pen should last a couple of years without failing whether it is a single point cal or double.

I was told by a Milwaukee rep to rinse after use in white vinegar and then store in RO/distilled water. I've done it this way for about 6 years and I've only had to recalibrate twice in those 6 years.
I read soaking it in RO water Wil damage the probe

Disagree all you want as most single point meters are the cheaper versions and come with the inherent problems of single point meters and their cheaper construction...
