Im worried about when it gets hot and like the hose when you first turn it on hot water comes out for a few minutes. Whats a way around that when using irrigation?
Bury it or cover it so its out of the sun.
Mulch hay or soil . Or just water at 5 am with a timer on the hoseWhat can i cover it with?
You can dig a hole and put your fabric pots directly into the ground. It'll reduce the aeration of the soil that fabric pots provide, but it will also reduce evaporation and the roots will grow through the pots into the surrounding soil. I've done that with my plants in 10 gallon fabric pots this year, throwing a little compost in the bottom and some soil with good drainage surrounding the bag. You can even leave a small amount of the fabric sticking up above the soil and it acts as a berm.If your irrigating a 30 gallon frabric pot. How do you do it?
Good suggestion but I don't recommend watering at night, better early morning. Soil that is too moist overnight increases the chances of guttation, which will increase your chance of budrot in flower.I just went thru this.
- Let it run for a bit then water by hand,
or
- Put it on a timer and water at night.
