I am about to graduate from one of the top Canadian universities and am very interested in getting involved in the growing marijuana market in Canada. I am excited at the prospect of improving peoples lives and am inspired by the success stories I've heard with so many patients. There's also no doubt that it will become a very lucrative market within the next 10-20 years and I'd like to get involved at the ground level.
I am moving to Vancouver since it seems to be the epicenter of the growth and has the best networking opportunities. I'd like to be involved from a business perspective since I have extensive experience running startup companies and am highly skilled in sales, biz dev, and communications. I also have front end web development and online marketing skills. Many of these new marijuana businesses seem to be behind in these aspects of business. Some have barely functioning websites and I see a lot of potential for improvement. Finally, I have a passion for growing the plant and have successfully executed several larger scale personal grows.
Can anyone shed light on how they've landed jobs in the industry? How should I go about meeting the right people? Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.
