How to flush soil - nutrient burn

Hi all, I have to flush my soil plants to get rid of extra nutrients in the soil as I have tip burn. I don’t want to compact the soil - they’re in 10L pots, about 5 weeks old (still in veg). I’m thinking of flushing 4L per plant of ph adjusted water. I’m also thinking I should pour the water very slowly so I don’t compact the soil, which would be a disaster. Could anyone tell me if I’m on the right track? And is 4L per plant enough or do I need to go up to the whole pot size worth - I.e. 10L per plant?

Cheers.

None of this. Just water till you see a leaf yellow a bit. then you will be back on track. let the soil dry a bit then water a couple of times. no reason to flush at all.

Thanks, your advice is so appreciated - I’ll just feed water for a week or so as you say & then go a bit easier on the nutrients..

Remember that if you do opt to go straight water (as opposed to keeping a minimal 1/4 dose or so of nutrients), it's critically important that you continue to pH test before giving it to the plants, just like you do with your water/nutrient mix.

And this will depend greatly on your quality of soil you have. If it doenst have good lime then he is absolutly correct. But you should already know the ph of your tap water. mine comes out 6.8. if you have line its anywhere from 6.5-7.5 you can just water it.

That's true. I'm just used to mine fluctuating as I draw my water from the lake I live on, so I advise others to check just to be safe out of habit. (I also grow in peat and my soluble nutrients almost always stabilize my stock tanks to 5.9 thankfully, but that's irrelevant here).

For sure. Natural water sources would been to be checked. Same for river water and well water. If you have a bad water source then a couple of rain barrels are a good alternative to a expensive RO system.
