How to find cool housemates

Hey folks,

I'm looking to move soon and I wondered if anyone has any tips for finding like-minded housemates. All my old smoker friends locally are either living with their wives/girlfriends these days or have given up smoking. I'll need to share a house with others for the next few years so I can save some money, but I'd want to share with people who smoke. Better yet, it would be excellent to share a house with people who maybe grow themselves and could help by looking after plants while I'm away etc.

The problem is, how could I go about finding cool housemates without drawing the wrong kind of attention. It's not like I can put an ad in the paper saying 'Dope-growing housemates required'. Anyone have any suggestions for seeking out the right kind of people without drawing the wrong kind of attention? Is it impossible?

use 420 friendly room mate required. Seriously I'd just live by your self. The room mate will just drive you crazy, and probably steal your stuff/food/weed when you're not looking. Specially if you plan on growing and have no close friends to move in with.

yah, i was going to say on the west coast and soutwest dope is usually meth, but i'm on the east coast and there's not much meth around here for the most part..

Yeah I'm east coast too and meth never was a problem in my neck of the woods either. But in my neck of the woods dope definitely means heroin. And that there is ALOT.

In my corner of the world hash is 'dope', weed is 'green', and I believe heroin is called 'brown' though I'm not sure (and that's no bad thing). As far as I'm aware the word 'dope' originally referred to type of hash laced with opium that used to be common in the 19th century. It's supposedly the origin of the word 'dope' meaning an idiot in the US (i.e. someone who spends too much time at the opium den), and the word 'doping' meaning to add impurities to something (used in industrial processes). Hash laced with opium is not at all common these days if it exists at all, presumably because opium is so much more costly than cannabis that if you mixed them people would assume they were getting a bad deal. If you google though you'll find how-tos on how to make homemade opiated hash, and I met a person who claimed they smoked some in Thailand a couple of years ago.

So anyone have any good advice on the topic?
