Goddammit, I posted something here, tried to edit it and then it disappeared?

Whatever, I cant even remember what I typed, I'm gonna come back with some pics of two separate runs, and get some opinions... fucking internet.

Awesome thread btw.

Okay, here are some pics:
this was my first run; fresh frozen trim (strawberry cough) that was about two months old, I guess this was just practice material. Its super green in real life, not so much in picture. Also it sucks to fuck around with, it's really sticky and gets everywhere... I used 2.5 cans for one oz of trim, maybe that's what did it? We also thought that it was b/c it was fresh frozen, there was a little puddle of water in pan before the scrape which was annoying.

And here the other one, I used the proper amount of tane, with whole nugs. At this point it's super nice, its totally malleable and not sticky.
Made with some Blackberry nugglets:

Tastes amazing...

I guess another difference was that I used the foodsaver pump and tupperware for the first, and the second was with the FS jars and mityvac (found both at sears)... I still have to read the second half of the thread so maybe there's some info I missed..

also the yield was okay, much more than you see in the pics, they are taken well after smoking quite a bit, esp. the dark one which is super nice before bed...

Up the arsenal you didn't need to use all that tane... I use a litttle over 1 can on an OZ of sticky nug, and end up with 5.4g of 4 times purged oil

Yeah definitely, the first run was too much, we learned after reading like half the thread and seeing how some guy used 12 cans ;-):lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: shit was hilarious bro....

But yeah, I guess with that first one it was too much tane and I still have a feeling the fact it was fresh frozen trim has something to do with it. The second one is awesome though, perfect representation of the flower. For that one I used maybe 80% of a can for 3/4 oz of nuggies. I'll probably run an oz of Blue Widow I've had sitting around for a while, that should turn out good.

LOL yeah I used 12 cans... I only was running a half oz to myself though! My buddy said 12 and I thought OK hahahaha. I've learned since then too! Trial and error for the butane purges for real.

Yeah, i'd dry your trim until it's like crumbly and then stuff it in the tube... make those resin glands a little easier to come off

Just got done running my fist batch of oil and got a question. what temp should I set the oven at and how long should I leave it in there before I take it out to purge?

I used a toaster oven at 150, I think I read on here that it could be at 170 for a couple minutes. In the toaster oven it was faster though, like 30 seconds... you can see when it becomes molten.

The info should be in here though, this is pretty much the only thread I've gotten my info from.

Thanks man, I just got done skimming through the whole thing and didn't see it. I got my oven set at 200. I think I'll drop it down a little bit and then just keep a close eye on it. I should be posting up some pics in a few hours.

Alright guys this is my first run ever, tell me what you think.

Here I got 1 ounce of NL#5 3/4 ounce of popcorn plus one 1/4 ounce of trim. I only ran a half ounce because that all I could get in the tube and I just did one run. If I like the results I'll be running more for sure.

Ground up.

Tube loaded and ready to go with cheese cloth and one coffee filter.

Here's the gear I'm working with.

And here it is after using 1 can of butane in the water bath.

Fresh out of the dish.

This is after it was warmed up in the oven @ 150 deg for about a minute.

First purge

2nd purge.

3rd Purge.

4th purge.

And here it is after I scraped it up a little. My scale only weighs in one gram increments so I can't give you a total weight but I do know it's over a gram.

I haven't smoked any yet because I just ordered one of those vapor globes from aqua labs. When I do smoke it for the first time I wanna do it right. When the globe comes in I'll be sure to give y'all a smoke report.

Hope you all enjoyed the show and please comment if you think I missed something or if there is something I can do to improve the overall outcome.

Peace.

Thanks guy's. Here's the glass I ordered tell me what you think. It was one of the cheapest pieces they had. They got some really sweet looking glass but they were just to pricey for me.

Dropa, get your consistency of your veg material a little finer; you want it almost powdered. you'll shit on the difference it makes in final output. the finer the better; more surface area. nice job though!

and you want it crispity crunchity. dry as fuck.

Dry is forsure better, But i don't agree with grinding materials for my first run(imo). I break down nuggs to about in between the size of a dime and nickle and pack it tight as shit. When running whole nugg you will get a lighter colored, better tasting, higher quality oil. But once thats done purging and out of my pyrex dish i take out the buds and THEN grind them to a powder and do my 2nd run. But i also have two dishes so i can keep them seperate.

Different strokes for different folks i guess =P

Yeah breaking down to get better more even flow is better I think, but grinding into a powder would create a paste (I would think) that wouldn't really let the tane flow well..

I grind all my nugs before running with a 4 piece space case grinder, it breaks them up into chunks rather than dust... about the width of an eraser, perfect
