we have little root knats that i just cant seem to get rid of. we tried the tinfoil thing for a few days but that started to worry me b/c it looked like the roots were coming up through the soil trying to get to oxygen so i took it off. I do have this insecticide that is bio-degradable and for organic growing , im just not sure how to use it since we're flowering. so i was wondering if someone could tell me how to apply it. this says you "spray" it on. and i dont spray anything on my plants b/c it tends to burn them. if you guys would help me out id appreciate it. thanks!

Okay, we'll need more info than that, what's the actual acitve ingredient in it. You're best bet is to read the label to see if it's labelled for use against soil insects.

The other thing to consider is that since your so close to harvest is if you can just live with them another week or two.

well this is what it says.

controls: Fungus, Gnats, aphids, spider mites, whiteflies, scales, leafhoppers, earwigs, thrips, and Mealybugs.

Insecticidal Soap plus: insecticide, miticide, and fungicide.

Active ingredients: pure oils of cotton seed(1.5%) and rosemary(.10%).

Inert ingredients:Food grade Oleic Acid and non GMO canola oil, USP Grade Glycerin and Potassium Bicarbonate, Pure Oils of Vanillin, Vit E 12%. Water: 86.4%

this stuff is really good, im just not sure how to apply it. it says spray at dusk. a fine mist on stems leaves and soil at base of plant. but then it says not for hairy or waxy leaves. so is it ok to just apply like the bottle says?

I have Agrizyme on the way to take care of what's left of my fungus gnats, but I started watering less and they seem to have mostly outgrown them. To be honest, you should consider yourself lucky if that's the worst bug you get.

Use nematodes in a spray bottle with distilled water, heat the water to 78 before putting the nematodes in the water.
Within 6 days all your problems will be gone.
By the way, change the brand of soil your buying, it is most likely the cause of your problem.
Peace

To be totally honest, I re-use my soil, I know some people recommend not to do this, and it is a good way to get a re-infestitation of bugs.

I just went to the dollar store recently, and picked up 8lb bags of organic soil for $1.75 each, to that I'll be adding some pearlite for drainage. I'll also be adding the contents of my old co2boost bucket, which is now just organic soil. Than I'll just mix this in with my old soil. Before you start re-using your soil, one reason I am comfortable with re-using my soil, is that I also use co2, and as such...an infestation of bugs just isn't possible.

PS, I started with miracle gro soil.
Peace
