No doubt man not trying to sound like a douche just used to everyone around here not caring much about quality and I like rollitup for the growers that get into it as hardcore as me. All my friends think I'm weird lol but it's my passion. I'm about 30 min south of gr so not crazy far should burn sometime.Looks decent, where ya live so I can give it a real review?

All it takes is a qp or so to pay off your expensive clone. From there on, for years to come (if you can preserve it), you'll be growing better weed than all your friends and will be able to get rid of it whenever you want in any flooded market (which most will be very soon). Don't underestimate the value of elite genetics. Genes are really more important than masterful growing. An ace can only make Critical Kush so good. A mediocre grow of the true sour diesel clone will very likely blow away the critical kush, no matter how elegantly it's grown. With grow after grow of your clone, you'll get pretty damn good at it eventually too.

Also saying someone doesnt care about quality because that sounds like too much money is a bit of a stretch, the buds I grow are big dense taste great and get me stoned and I paid a small fraction of those prices for the seeds so it sounds like a lot

How I decide is usually just spur of the moment. I've bought 8 strains over the years, and have been gifted 25-30 more. I've turned those into 75-100 crosses. As I only plant 9 seeds a moon cycle, 9 or 10 cycles per year, that means I will never get to run all of them. Right now the Triple Jack 11 is high on my list. The highest priced seeds I have are the Jack Herer x shit/skunk. I paid 80 bucks for 40 seeds. I f2'ed the skunk leaner, and crossed the shit with skunk leaner.

100 bucks a 10 pack is my theoretical limit at the moment.... I'm guilty of not giving every bean a chance, once the majority have sprouted any slow ones get tossed, and I cull as they grow. i've got basically the entire nirvana line to try then will move on to some US genetics.

Actual price was 15 seeds of each for 40 dollars, but there were 5 freebies of each.
I call my Skunk leanrer Jack K Shunk and shit leaner Jack H Shunk. It's long and lean, and takes a long time to finish, but stoney as hell. My aim is to cross with the heavier strains that are bad to rot in my rainy flower season.

Some of the worst seeds I've ever grown out of easily 200(probably 300+) strains were the most expensive, dr greenthumb chem 4. They sucked balls and were $200+ at the time. Some of the best were under $50 like Joey Weeds old White Russian. Price doesnt make the seed better or worse. I try to stay under $100 per pack anymore.
Clone wise I will not pay for a clone. Shit I won't even trade anymore. Every time I get a clone from somebody it's got bugs or issues so I said fuck it. Now I just try to complete my stable by having genetic testing areas outside of my main perpetual area. My testers love getting 2g per plant to test when there getting 10 different plants usually or more to test and I love the feedback.

Above, I supported the economics of dishing out some bucks for a special clone. But that's being SURE that's it's a verified real deal PLUS bug and disease free. Finding that isn't easy at all. I'd drop 500 bucks in a heartbeat if the situation was right with a truly special cut but in the meantime I'm with you. Pop d'em seeds. It's much more fun too.

Ok, you need a few hundred post it notes, blind fold, bar stool, stun gun, a dart and one midget. If the midget is blind you can skip the blind fold. Write one strain on each post it note and put them on a wall with no gaps between them. If the wall is not full, you failed to get enough post it notes. Blind fold the midget, have them stand on the bar stool and give them the dart. Face them towards the wall of index cards. Tell them to throw the dart on the count of three, note that this should be explained in great detail like the holy hand grenade in monty python's holy grail. While you are explaining this you are getting the stun gun ready. As you count to three you hit him in the ass with the stun gun just as he is throwing the dart. This is important as the results will be skewed otherwise. What the dart hits is the winner. If the dart hits the floor then you have a bad midget and should obtain another. If the midget shits themselves you will have hermies and should not grow that strain.
Thats the scientific method for making these tough choices.

I don't think he's mocking you. I think he's demonstrating that if you get top genes, grow them out, and smoke them, you'll drift off into bizarre dreams of midgets and darts and post it notes and life will be pretty awesome.
Don't worry, all's fine. We're just making the case that cheaping out on genes isn't the quickest way to end up growing the very best. It might work... we've all got our angles and approaches and priorities.

@booms111 nailed it! I know it’s a bitter pill to swallow for you who care to believe there are hundreds or maybe thousands of different strains, with which to entertain yourself for decades.
At this point it’s mostly 60-40-60% for 80% of available seeds. Not much diff in psychotropic effect, despite the Sativa=energetic / Indica=narcotic mantra marketing.
Appearance and flavor for sure, I agree. But you don’t listen to music with your eyes. Oh wait- if you’re a 15 year old girl you do!
If goofy names are putting you off, then buy a classic. Perhaps a Euro American Classic like Northern Lights or Lemon Haze. You can’t go wrong with any strain. They’re all pretty damn good these days.
