Hey guys what's a gold rule of thumb on how much water to give per pot size.

Example 1/2 gallon for a 5 gallon bucket (just an example not saying that's right) thanks

Don't think there is a golden rule on that. Too many variables... Some strains require much more water that others...
How often to water... How to not over or underwater...

If you need to just know how much for a 5 gal. I'd give it at least 1 1/2 to 2 gal.
Read up on beginning growing in the forums...

In soil? I feed slow and steady until it trickles out the bottom into the tray. As your plant grows it'll take more water for that to happen.

Water enough so that you get some water to come out of the bottom of your pot. This ensures your growing media is fully wet top to bottom and helps to get out any left over salts from your ferts.

I do what Vostok does

Lift them up. Your plants will tell you when to water

Water to run off

I grow in 15 gal pots and feed 4-5 gal of water every 2 days. I get maybe 1/2-1 gal run off for each plant.
