How Much Water Do You Really Use?

Reading the below article, I wondered, how much water wasting, we here really do.
We pulled out our bill/invoice from the water company.
We use around 430 cubic feet per month combined [two of us].
Which works out to less than 100 gallons per day for us, which is way below the national average.
So, we use about 52-55 gallons each per day, which still sounds like a lot.
This includes all the plant watering you do. I try to catch as much rain water as possible for the plants.

So, how much water do you really use per month?
Converting Cubic Feet to Gallons gets tricky, so just get your cubic feet use per month, and divide by 30.

I'd like to see Manhattan Island be separated from the State of NY counts... but whatever....

So, who here wastes the most water?

Example for the Math Challenged:
your bill states:
1600 Cubic Feet per month used
1600 divided by four people in house = 400 cubic feet per month each
400 cubic foot of water equals about 100 gallons per day per person

use this ratio-

saving your rain water is a kick-ass step in the right direction!bongsmilie

another thing I rarely hear mentioned is recycling dehumidifier water, in the pacific northwest you can keep your res going with addback from your dehumidifier alone most of the time lol:hump:. which brings me to my next point.

hydro.

hydroponics, and many other things will influence water consumption significantly from household to household.
I couldn't find a bill atm, (because I'm paperless:peace:) so I can't do that math at the moment. :-(
and this is an interesting question, it got me to thinkin, I have no idea how much water I would use just myself each month, I guess gettin my hands on this info would be the first step, but it goes much much deeper than that lol 8)

That being said, any Hydro grower should be able to tell you almost exactly, to the gallon, how much water they use on their plants every month.

I know this hippy who saves his bath water for his soil TEA o_O
...and water here is CHEAP.:bigjoint:

We pay approximately $240 every three months for water/sewer/garbage and I can use as much water as I want....I recently started melting snow because I could smell the chlorine in the tap water.

Just added it up but the same services here in tx cost $55/month.

You fucking yanks twat water!!! wtf?! I suggest you get familiar with whore bathing techniques.
Ive been using the water off the ACs and Dehumidifiers for time! to water and for hydro with an osmosis to just top up. Know few other people who do the same. Depending on where you are it can be quite a help! Id say right now about 2/3 of water i use is off machinery rest is topped off.
I dont think i usually pay more than 50 euro or so every 3 months for water and i think 60 euro a year for garbage, But bear in mind i live in a shitty village in the Catalunian mountains most of the year.

I like to run the water really hot to steam up the mirrors so I can write on them. Sometimes, I;ll make a nice scene then wipe it off with a towel and start over. I do this about 20x a week. My king size waterbed has a slow leak in it, but it usually doesn;t come out from under the sides of the bed too much so it doesn't bother me. It is a pain in the ass to fill it every week though. I also like to make ice cubes (usually ten trays at a time) then dump them in the sink and melt them with hot water using the sprayer. I feel like a fireman putting out some flames as they all melt away. I do that probably 10x a week. Also, I;m afraid to stop up the toilet so I'll flush after every wipe. Usually I wipe 6-7 times per growler (usually the more I wipe, the more poop comes out, I don;t get it, but it's like a GD fudge factory). I poop about 3x a day (high fiber diet, lots of lettuce and veggies which require extensive rinsing in case some mexican asshole peed on them when picking them). After pooping I wash my hands for a solid five minutes. I also wash them periodically throughout the day just to be safe.

I also drink about a gallon a day, and wash my clothes every night. I'm kind of OCD and can't sleep with dirty laundry in the house. I like to take baths a few times a week too. Well, I think I do, but usually I fill the tub and then let it get cold because I get busy doing something else and forget so I just drain it. A few times a week, when I can;t sleep, I'll let the water run full blast in the sink like white noise. It's comforting. I hook up a hose to my sink and run it out to wash my car a couple times a week. Clean windshields save lives.

I love water! Great thread.

I just paid a water bill of €80 but they have been much more. Like double.

My hydro tanks take up to 100L but I fill them to 50-70 L depending on where in the cycle. Also I just change tanks every 2 weeks now, much less than when I started with it.

There's other variables, it's Winter so only one shower/day instead of 3-4. I don't run the tap ever though.

I have a RO machine and the amount of water wasted is unreal. Hardly ever use it as my tap water is EC 0.3.

I don't like being wasteful anyway, but especially if I'm paying for it!

I dig it, bro. I like the conservative approach.
