How much to water 2 week old seedlings

One is pretty solid, working on its third set of leaves and low to the soil, the other is still working on its second set. I had them both in the same solo cup at first and transplanted the second one to it’s own for fear of overcrowding. I’m assuming that’s why the second is stunted. They both sprouted with the seed still attached which I managed to remove. I check on them every few hours and when the soil is dry, I spray them. Until they’re nice and moist. This is a couple of times a day, as my humidity will not go above 52 (I’ve tried everything I can think of. Bowls of water, hanging a towel over a bowl of water to act as a wick infront of a fan, I even bought a couple of humidifiers and none worked) the only thing that did was constantly spraying they sides of my tent. So if anyone has pointers on that too, I’d really appreciate it.

I haven’t seen any signs of over watering, except for possible stunted growth, and I’m worried about root growth. However, yesterday and today I saw an orange dust type organic material. I’m using distilled water so I’m thinking it might be mold. Any help would be awesome!

I think you can put a cola bottle over the top of them with the lid off to raise humidity

Sounds like you're overwatering. I don't use a dome at all for seedlings and my RH is super low. It's like 10% right now. A dome helps with clones, but I don't even use a dome for clones anymore either. I just pop the clones straight in soil, and if they don't make it, I just pop another one in the pot. I did have higher success rates using a mini greenhouse though.

No, after getting used to clones, seeds were a whole new ballgame to me again

im using coco coir as my medium. Should I be watering until runoff or just misting?

I don't grow in coco, but I know you want a little runoff with that and chemical nutes. I'd probably flush it out with plain water, and then give it a really mild does of nutes. But I'm not a coco grower like I said. That's just what I hear.

For soil?

For Coco, A lot of people us the GH trio. I actually have the bottles that I bought for a fun experiment with coco, but I haven't done it yet.

If he will be using the distilled or RO water he will also want calimagic and since it's coco probably epsom salt

Don't worry so much about the RH%, spraying them too often could cause more harm than good imo.

Ya, I bought the CaliMagic too, and I already have the Epsom salt. When I test it out I'll definitely be asking you for advice.

The main thing he needs to do right now with his seedlings is just add a little calimagic to the distilled water so it's not 0 ppm. We don't need to feed the plants until they get their first set of multibladed leaves but 0 ppm water is no beuno.

I didn’t expect such fast responses. Is their anything besides the calimagic and Epsom salts you’d recommend? My bigger one has her first set of 3 leaves and is well on her way to a third set! I will send pics in a few hours, my babies are asleep!

Here they are, I just put a pinch of epsom salt in my spray bottle and watered them. They’ve been growing for just over 2 weeks. The shorter one is stunted from emergency transplant

Sharing my trick in monitoring moisture content of my medium, specially for seedling or new clones.

Shammy towel

1. I cut it into strips
2. one strip per plant
3. bury one end of the strip all the way to the bottom of the pot and leave the other end a little bit above the medium
4. when the tip of the shammy strip start to dry.....time to water.

Takes out the guesswork and i have no problem with over watering or under watering.

Hey Padawan, I'm all about simplicity. When you say you pop your clones straight into soil, are you saying you don't root them first? Just let the cuttings root directly in soil? Don't want to derail this thread, you can reply by conversation if you prefer.

That's what I'm saying. Un-rooted straight into soil. Light Warrior soil would probably work good, but I just use my amended soil. It's totally not meant for clones, but I can make it work. Like I said though I don't have as good of success rates as doing a dedicated clone machine or mini greenhouse. But I have lots of extra time to pull out any failed clones and pop in new ones.
