How much Supplemental light?

So seince my last post you guys have convinced me that COBs are the way to go and after looking into it a little bit more i definately agree. I got a really good deal on a Kind k5 xl 750 so thats going to be my primary light source.
How much additional light do i need to add in COBs to maximize photosynthesis in a 4x4 tent?
Is it better to run fewer chips on higher wattages? or more chips on less wattage?

i just read the companies sales info, according to them, you don't need any supplemental light for a 4x4 area, that light should cover it well.
i'm interested in your results, let us know how it goes

if you decide to add more, most lights seem to mix 3s and 5s, the 3s to control heat and the 5s for canopy penetration.

...3s to control heat and the 5s for canopy penetration.
The Cree chips I was looking at seem to range from 50w to 100w. Why would I run a 5w? wouldnt a 50w do much better with penetration?
I was looking at previous posts and people seem to hate on Kind and blue/red light in general. So I was wondering how much power I should have in Cobs to counteract the thin long stems and airy buds?
I know I have 16 sq ft and I should have 50 watts per foot. thats 800w and the kind only uses 430w.

if you look at the premade light you bought, its made up of 3 and 5 watt leds. most of them are.
i switched to 400 watt hps' to solve that long thin stem/airy bud thing....

isnt the fact that these leds are only 3 and 5 watts the very reason why retail units are not recommended when compared to COBs? Sorry for all the questions but i want to learn, it wont be a wasted effort. :)
I have a 600w HPS i could toss in there but its big, heavy, expensive and HOT. im loving the leds.

turn that over, look at all the individual leds in the array...they are 3 and 5 watt leds. thats what most arrays are made up of.
there are no such things as "50 watt l.e.d.s"...there are arrays of 3 and 5 watt leds that add up to 50 watts
if you look closely at that cob, you'll see it's more than one diode
