how much of the roots can u cut off b4 the plant dies?

all i want to know is what i wrote in the title i dont wanna hear you shouldnt cut the roots off its like cutting your arm off shit

almost all of them, in fact, when transplanting from aero to soil your only supposed to have roots around an inch so the plant can regrow them around the soil

you can cut them back to a rootball of soil or all the way back to a cube but don't be to severe.
