How much longer do these have to flower? (pics)

Hi everyone,

I am still a noob and I have acquired a plant that is flowering and I have no idea what day of flowering it is on or approx how much it has left - can anyone tell from these pics or give me an estimated guess please? The strain is unknown, and the plant is totally green everywhere, there is no coloring at all yet. Oh and the plant is 14" high measuring from the soil to the top.

You probably have some weeks left to go, looks like it wants some water too, are you familiar with the strain? That would help also. You will know once it is done.

You could thatch a roof with those leaves...almost look like banana leaves..lol

Harvest when you want a particular high ...look at the trichomes ( crystals )
...clear color..not ready.
..milky color...head high.
..amber and milky...combo..
...all amber..couchlock.

Buy a cheapo 30 X magnifier to examine trichomes...I bought mine for 8 bucks at the grow store.

Lol yeah man banana leaves for sure. I do not know what strain this is other than it looks to be indica dominant.

It seems to have soo many damn leaves lol and they are all thick and dark green and twisted.... I read that twisted leaves is a good sign, it is a sign that the plant is too heathy lol. ANyhoo I will want to wait as long as possible because I like couchlock stones, and I will get a scope this week but I would like to know approx how much time is left.

From all the pics I have seen online etc it appears that some if not all of the leaves should turn yellow by the time it's ready to harvest and right now the plant is green as fuck so I don't think it will be ready for a few weeks still... the thing is, I found out it has been showing flowers since may 24h which is almost 2 months now.

I know it could be a 10 week strain.

The other thing I was wondering is that is there any defencies like lack of light or nutes or something that would cause an extended flowering time? What about stretched plants? (cuz I have some stretched ones too... they are all taking various times to make their top flower).

I've never heard that, but I don't think its good advice. The basic idea is that when a plant gets super healthy is shows mutated or unusual growth? Not sound in my mind. A budding plant can create so much resin that the sugar leaves will start to point down, but that's about it.

A flowering plant should have leaves that turn yellow and drop, but you can keep a plant artificially green with too much nitrogen.

Too much nitrogen will delay flower.
Too little phosphorous will delay flower.
Light during the dark period will delay flower.
Less than 12 hours of dark period will delay flower.
Stretch is typically associated with too little light in veg and too much nitrogen in flower.

Check the trichomes on that bud, it is the best indicator. Judge your harvest by the plant, not by the calendar.

Thanks man, all your answers make a lot of sense.

I have some seedlings that are about 2-3 weeks old being grown in 12/12 from seed ( i never wrote it down ) and I was wondering if it was too early to start LST?

No, you should start LST now. If you did 12/12 from seed they are going to be flowering soon and the purpose of LST is to control your plant when flowering.

Well right now they are in small plastic beer cups and I dont have much room for transplants etc so LST is not a good idea for me, in fact I really dont have room for more than 1 cola per plant :/

I will however take a couple and fuck around with them so should I transplant one to a big pot and then LST it down? Should I transplant first then do the LST and how long after the transplant should I start the LST?

Should I take the biggest strongest seedling and tie it down? I will do this then take a pic

For LST I would transplant one of the better looking seedlings and move it to a minimum of a one gallon container. Give it two or three days to get over the transplant shock and show signs of happy growth and then begin the LST.

4-5 weeks left would be my guess. I'd make sure and check your PH as I've seen twisting leaves fixed by correcting a ph issue before. The leaves drooping like that could also be an indication of over-watering. Hope this helps.

ok gonna take 1-2 of the best seedings and transplant them today - will take pics.

4-5 weeks wow? that would bring total flowering time to about 12-13 weeks but it is what it is - I hope the buds swell right up near the end

I don't think it is overwatered. The person who gave it to me was under watering it and I have been only watering it every 3 days.

I have no idea what the PH of the soil is. I use aged tap water + molasses to feed them.

I assume I need a tool to check the PH?
