How much LIGHT to use in the beginning?

Hey guys, I'm new to all this, but I've looked through some of the major posts and stickys and I can't find solid information on what my light cycle should be for my plant. Its germinated and has just poked above the soil now. I've heard of a 12/12 flowering cycle, but not what to use before that. I use just one compact fluorescent bulb about an inch or so away from it. Thanks guys.

24 hours for now will help the sprout get a good start. then you can switch it down to 18 on 6 off once the plant gets established. 5'' or so.

I veg under 18/6 from day 1.

i left mine on 24/0 for a week, to help them grow a bit and get started then hit them with 18/6.... might need some more cfls as well bud, ive got 9 25watters in one of my box and my new one has 16... both will hold about 2-3 plants...

yea i am give them 24/6 light then i take them outside

i hit 'em with 18/6 from germ. the dark periods gives the roots time to grow, just like in nature.

i like to keep it natural.

and the flo's should be 6" from new sprouts for the first week IMO, even though everything you read says 2".
