How much does it cost you to produce one pound of herb?

Is it some kind of hazardous material? I know ammonium nitrate is serious business.
Potassium nitrate can be used to make black powder (a really slow and unreliable explosive), but can also be used as a precursor to make more powerful explosives. The good news is that most terrorists are fucking retarded.

(Don't be retarded and try)

I'm not a terrorist. I'm a grower. The Feds do seem to get confused a lot, however.

The question....cost per pound...is this assumming growing for resale or for personal. In a legal state or black market?

The thread seems to be centred on a commercial/dispensary... in that case do the numbers quoted include licensing, quality control, testing insurance and such??

I usually order from cropking.com, but their potassium nitrate has an insane shipping price... Like, it costs more to ship 1lb of potassium nitrate than it does to BUY AND SHIP a 50lb bag of calcium nitrate. (i'm going to get another 50lb bag from them in a few days)

I got this bag of potassium nitrate on ebay, who i think broke a few rules sending it in a priority mail bubble wrap envelope... lol. When it got here, it looked like a package of cocaine, and had a slit cut into it, and was leaking nitrates!! lol. Most (all) of it seems in there, but still.. wow!
I really kept it pretty simple; I used their 'hi K' hydroponic mix; 5-12-26 plus micros, calcium nitrate 15.5-0-0-19%Ca, MKP (monopotassium phosphate) 0-52-32 and epsom salt heptahydrate (10% magnesium, 13% sulphur). Right now Wal-Mart has that for as cheap as any commercial dry nute supplier.

I only add the MKP during bloom. Thus I have no need for potassium nitrate at all...

I don't think to many people have their stuff tested.

They do if you run a dispensary. If not, try to be intellectually honest and include more in the calculation besides just your cost of electricity and nutrients. There's cost of space, labor, amortization of equipment, sampling, cost of MISTAKES (everyone loves to forget this!), etc, etc.

Why not take it a step further and price in risk and lost opportunity cost? (you could have put your money into treasury bonds, or some other type of business than weed growing) Is anyone taking interest rates into consideration?

I'm not sure how to price in risk, and it's lower than many places here in Colorado. Besides, the local cops have already visited...

I doubt I'd be doing as well if I wasn't growing, so opportunity cost for me is negative. I figure those come close enough to balancing out in my case.

As far as choosing another business- I'm in this to commercialize techniques and technologies to reduce the overall costs of indoor cultivation. Again, opportunity cost is negative.

This is exactly why I do not know how much it costs me to produce a pound. All I know is that I won't lose money as long as I don't sell for 50 dollars a pound... lol

I'd be broke at $50 a lb.

Seeds (10) $250
Electric 200
fertilizer 20
soil/perlite 50
light wear 15 (bulb wear)
r.o. wear 40 (reverse osmosis device)
misc 20
_______
595

What about rent? Labor? Even yours- you could be doing something else.

I legal states and provinces where investors are getting behind growers/dispensaries you can bet your ass these things like opportunity cost ROI and risk are factored in.

Thanks for brining it up. This 8s where i was headed...

Hmmmm; 2 zips an hour x 8 hours = 16zips = 1lb

I'm not letting you bid any of my concrete work, Biebes...
im not even sure what your point of that post was lol. I was clearly agreeing with the fact it would take me about the same amount of time as mentioned? But whatever fancies your stupidity fuck brains

When i trim by myself thats what i average is about 2-3 zips per hour. Damn and i thought i was decent lol.
Well, that's pretty decent. 6 hr avg is what is the norm over here. Certain strains just flat out take longer to trim than others. Some flavors only take 4hrs. My favorite:-)

That guy I quoted and responded to said MINIMUM 8hrs to trim an lb.
Cost of production is a difficult equation. It certainly takes more than 50 bucks a pound. It takes a minimum of eight hours to even cut a pound so at 15x8 is $120 just to start. I would throw out around 300 dollars would be the base cost of producing outdoor/greenhouse and around 500 for indoors. This is for grade A retail quality. I suppose you could produce at 50 a pound outdoors with a machine trim but this would be B quality and only be worth 300-400 dollars wholesale and likely only fit for extraction. The hidden costs of production are around every corner, that's why its so difficult to achieve the production cost targets that we all dream about.
Which I feel sucks:-D
